Jumblat Criticizes Opposition on ‘Context of Speeches’ during Hariri Murder Anniversary
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةProgressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblat criticized on Thursday the March 14-led opposition leaders’ rhetoric during a gathering organized in BIEL on ex-Premier Rafik Hariri’s Feb. 14, 2005 assassination anniversary.
“The context of their speeches didn’t differ from that of last year, except for the tackling of the developments in Syria,” Jumblat told An Nahar newspaper.
He also slammed the letter of the Syrian opposition read by March 14 General Secretariat coordinator Fares Soaid, saying: “It would’ve been better if they brought a leader from the Syrian National Council to address the crowds instead.”
The Lebanese opposition took the opportunity on Tuesday to announce its alliance with the Syrian National Council, which said in the letter that the Syrian regime will ultimately collapse and Damascus will have the best of ties with Lebanon.
Jumblat said that the March 14 coalition reiterated its position on Hizbullah’s arms.
Former Prime Minister Saad Hariri urged the party to put its weapons at the disposal of the state, while Phalange Party leader Amin Gemayel wondered if it was logical to back Arabs revolting against their regimes and accept that the Lebanese remain captive to the illegitimate arms.”
Also in his speech, Lebanese Forces chief Samir Geagea called on Hizbullah not to be “mistaken in its calculations,” stressing that “there is no future for any illegitimate arms and no future for any mini-state.”
However, Jumblat stressed to An Nahar on the importance of dialogue to resolve all the disputes.
The PSP leader travelled to Turkey on Wednesday night.
"“It would’ve been better if they brought a leader from the Syrian National Council to address the crowds instead.”
Why? So they can throw him in jail!??
They should put all of them in jail. These speeches are taking Lebanon, to another civil war. I agree with Gemayel, how can he support the opposition in Syria, while he cannot stand the opposition in his own country. What a dillema, double standards again, like their masters.
the question is: when are u going to repair ur own mistake?ya walid beik u brought aoun and hizballah to govern, so .....
Just go back and join them, and I guarantee they will forgive all the insults and stiffing. After all, they are so friggin principled that nobody knows when they were against Syria and when they befriended Syria. Call them, as this low life Jumblat is, among other things, flippers-floppers and Syrian boot lickers, any Syrian who serves them.
Walid is playing as usual, both sides of the fence, he heard this morning that the West might reach a solution to STOP THE MASSACRE in Syria, but no news of BACHAR OBLIGED TO LEAVE. In fact, miscalculations from both sides is desastruous for Lebanon. march 14th are betting on the syrian opposition although the WEST never said Bachar has to leave and is just asking for stopping the massacre, and march 8th always supporting a tyrant that might leave and though supporting him and Iran, giving the Zionist a reason to invade if he falls. Very nice Lebanese politicians, you are such geniouses.
Jumblat le caméléon mange dans tous les rateliers (Assiettes). Il n'a aucune dignité. Quelle honte qu'il représente une partie de la population;
