Over a Ton of Spoiled Meat Confiscated in al-Fanar
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةSome 1.3 tons of spoiled meat have been confiscated by Consumer Protection Directorate patrols, reported the National News Agency on Thursday.
It said that the meat was discovered in a warehouse of a commercial establishment in the industrial zone in al-Fanar region in Metn district.
The warehouse has since been shut down.
Acting Director-General of the Ministry of Economy Fouad Fleifel accompanied the patrols on their raid of the Fanar warehouse, where samples of the meat have since been taken for testing.
Fleifel said: “The necessary investigations are underway to analyze the meat and refer the case to the judiciary.”
He urged citizens to report the discovery of any spoiled food by contacting the 1739 hotline.
He revealed that the Consumer Protection Directorate had recorded 574 violations, destroyed spoiled food in 473 cases, and shut down 275 establishments in 2011.
The Directorate will continue such missions throughout Lebanon, he stressed.

Any attempted efforts by the consumer protection directorate is a good step forward. it's always good to see some evidence of a government protecting those they are supposed to represent.

بربكم! ألا يحقّ لنا أن نعرف من هي هذه "المؤسسة" لكي لا نقع ضحيّة غشِها مرّة أخرى؟وماذا لو وزّعت كميّة من تلك اللحوم ال السوبرماركات؟
