Hitler's 'Mein Kampf' Published for First Time in Albania
Adolf Hitler's "Mein Kampf" has come out in Albania for the first time, printed by a local publisher who now risks possible charges for stirring racial hatred, officials said Wednesday.
Ermir Nika of the culture ministry said Hitler's book would be "judicially treated as it violates Albanian legislation" for inciting racial hatred.
Nika said it also breached copyright regulations.
The anti-Semitic book has been available in bookstores for a week.
The editor of the book said it was published as a "warning for future generations in order not to repeat such madness ever again."
The Association of Jews in Albania condemned on Wednesday the publishing of the book and warned it would file a complaint to demand it be banned.
"Mein Kampf" ("My Struggle"), written when Hitler was languishing in a Bavarian prison, combines elements of autobiography and sets out his views on Aryan "racial purity", his hatred of Jews and his opposition to communism.
It is not banned as such in Germany but since the end of World War II Bavaria -- which holds the rights until 70 years after the Nazi dictator's death in 2015 -- has not permitted reprints.
Hitler was just a misunderstood artist. Rejection is the most brutal of human conditions and young Adolf underwent the metamorphosis into the monster of our historical lore by his rejection from art school.
