Arrest Warrant Issued against Suspect Who Opened Fire at Syrian Border Guards

Military court judge Imad al-Zein issued the warrant against the detainee for the incident that took place at al-Qaa on August 19, 2011 and left one person dead.
Two of his accomplices remain at large.
Lebanon’s border with Syrian in the north has witnessed various security incidents since the eruption of anti-regime protests in Syria.
In September, the Syrian army had accidentally opened fire at Lebanese soldiers, believing them to be gunmen.
Syrian troops had also carried out various incursions in Lebanese towns near the Syrian border in search of what it called gunmen, smugglers, and army defectors.
