Report: Hizbullah Rejects Setting Up Refugee Camps for Syrians Fleeing Turmoil
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةA senior Hizbullah official discussed with a representative from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) the conditions of the Syrian refugees in Lebanon, according to As Safir newspaper published on Friday.
The report said that the two officials held a meeting two weeks ago to discuss ways to aid the Syrian refugees in the country.
The Hizbuallah official noted that only the cabinet has the right to take the necessary measures regarding this issue.
However, the international envoy said that Prime Minister Najib Miqati is hesitating to tackle the matter at the cabinet as Hizbullah ministers might reject it.
“Hizbullah has no objection on (aiding the Syrian refugees),” the official said.
The official noted that the party only rejects setting up refugee camps for the Syrian refugees.
Turkey has taken in some 17,000 refugees, Lebanon 16,000, Jordan about 8,500, with Iraq welcoming an unknown number, UNHCR said in a statement earlier in March.
Miqati told As Safir that his stance concerning the issue is clear as it’s a humanitarian cause that has nothing to do with politics.
Social Affairs Minister Wael Abou Faour told the daily that Hizbullah’s stance is positive as the party is dealing with the Syrian refugees from a humanitarian side.
The cabinet failed during its session on Tuesday to approve a request from the social affairs ministry to allocate LL100 million to provide more humanitarian assistance to the Syrian refugees who have fled the deadly crackdown by the regime on protestors.
But the government approved to accept donations by foreign parties to the Human Rights Council to help the refugees.
But it was ok when we took you in after you provoked Israel and they taught you a lesson? ? Your sick sect, your filth gang and inhumanity will be known to the whole world.
Who's 'we'? Were you on the battlefield? Did you also admit killing our prime minister. looser.
We as Lebanese. Jajajajaja. Most people don't give a damn about Israel or Palestine. Only Iran and its Lebanese franchise care about impossible divine victories.
thrower of urine, please retreat into your hole you foul filthy sorry excuse for a sub human

so which is it??
Mowaten. How are you reasoning now? The text is clearly stating exactly what you wrote, and exactly what the title says.
1. Hizb. does not oppose aiding the syrian refeguees.
2. Hizb. refects setting up refugee camps.
That is what the text is saying, and what the official is saying.
Now a question; How will you help, and aid the refeguees if they dont have anywhere to stay?
....and how can you motivate such a stand?
it has to be written in persian for the mowaten irani stooge to make sense of it let alone understand it.
Flamethrower.
We have plenty of room to put up temporary "Tent camps". These are human beings. Sitting behind a PC and writing such things are easy.
...There is a lot of room in Jnoub, as most "jnoubis" now live in Beirut anyway ( if we are talking about room).
I really dont know how we can let our "political color" decide if we are going to help refeguees or not. Sick people.
The biggest joke is that we are being racists against a people with the same history and origin as we have and we dont have any pride, asking Europe and the west to help them instead.
Flame.
Your example is unfortunately totally irrelevant. What sinking ship are you talking about? Putting up temporary tents until they can return should be far more convincing than letting them walk around without any place to stay? They could end up in the palestinian camps and further our problems ( if we are thinking like that).
Having them on one place on the border, temporary, means we can monitor everyething. Plus help them with food and shelter.
What you are suggesting now, is making the same mistake as with the palestinians. If WE do not control the refeguees in our country, the issue will have a life of its own, and sooner or later control us.
The only sinking ships here are our values, as I see it. You are trying to use some kind of utalitarian reasoning, in a situation that does not need it.
Nassy has forgotten how the Syrians took in the Shia who fled in 2006 after Nassy started the war. The day will come when the Shia of Lebanon have nowhere to run.
إذا أكرمت الكريم ملكته وإذا أكرمت اللئيم تمردا"..enough said FT..yes the poor syrian people (and not the regime) opened their homes to the followers of your Filthy Militia, when your rat hassouna dragged the country into a devastating war to please his masters in Qum...but you guys are filth...we saw how you thanked us in May 2008..so this is no surprise
FT, the southern lebanese DID recieve so much support in terms of residence, shelter, food etc from the Syrian people and from the suni lebanese community in 06. You sound like a zionist really with these comments. The tide will turn and history will not be nice to the 'resistance' community because of the racist sectarian stance they are currently taking. The Hizbustan is taking the she3a community hostage pretty much like hitler did to the germans.
funny how some here deny the right of refugees fleeing a certain death by their friend assad.
i guess because they are not hezbi that for them they are not worth helping. double standards as usual...
I love all those hypocrites M8 and M14 (and especially M14). There are 16,000 Syrian refugees now in Lebanon. We have more than 70,000 Iraqi refugees because of the criminal American (Israeli) invasion and destruction of Iraq. Is there or was there a refugee camp for Iraqis in Lebanon?
For once I agree with Hizboweapons, but not for the same reasons. Hizboterorist doesn't want the Syrians Refugees because they are Sunnis and anti Assad Regime and anti Iran. Camps are meant to become permanent placements for refugees in the long run. Soon the refugees will accumulate Arms to fight the Assad Regime. But would these weapons strictly be used to fight the Regime? I guess not. These arms will be used for criminal activities and Terrorizing Lebanese civilians. Just look at the Palestinian refuges in Lebanon. They created a resistance to fight Israel from Lebanon, almost controlled all of Lebanon with their weapons, sparked a Lebanese Civil war and finally caused an Israeli invasion. There are already 2 Millions Syrian workers in Lebanon. I think we have more than enough Syrians in Lebanon. Alas Lebanon.
Flame Thrower. I agree with the shipment of Palestiain and Syrian Refugees, but not to Canada. They don't deserve Canada. I suggest to ship them with Hizboterorist to Iran or Russia with Love.
Once bitten twice shy ! Come on, haven't we learned enough from the Palestinian refugees dilemma ?
The odds that the internal troubles in Syria to last for a long time considering the balance of power are very high.
Lebanon is a small country with very limited resources and an explosive national debt. According to the ministry of interior spokesman, 95 % of all crimes in Lebanon today are committed by Syrian nationals. The fruit of the exodus.
Solution: Deport the activists to another country and limit the flows on a case by case basis. The more the word is out that the Lebanese authorities are flexible in receiving the refugees the more would be encouraged to head this way.
People think. Short of an international heavy involvement and as long as Russia,China, Brazil and India are supporting the Syrian regime, this conflict would have no end anytime soon. Expect more and more refugees.
If the God of lebanon is the God of the Bible then Lebanon has the obligation to remain true to its history and to be a land of refuge and safety for the oppressed and persecuted.
