Report: Iran, Hizbullah Increasing Military Support for Assad

إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربية W460

Iran and Hizbullah have increased their military aid to the regime of embattled Syrian President Bashar Assad to assist him in his 13-month crackdown on protestors, Israeli daily Haaretz quoted Western intelligence reports as saying.

The newspaper reported that Israeli defense officials have said the potential fall of the Assad regime prompted Iran and Hizbullah to increase their involvement in the Syrian crisis.

According to the reports, Iranian assistance to Syria, which is dubbed “the shadow army” by Israel, consists of extensive arms shipments including rockets, mortars and anti-aircraft missiles that could be used against a potential air strike by international forces.

The so-called shadow army was coordinated by Hizbullah military commander Imad Mughniyeh and Syrian general Mohammed Suleiman, who were killed in two separate incidents in 2008, Haaretz said.

Syria and Hizbullah have accused the Jewish state of carrying out the assassinations.

Haaretz said the western reports claim that Iranian and Hizbullah assistance to Assad also includes the training of Syrian troops in urban warfare, as well as drone operations.

The reports reveal that Iranian Revolutionary Guards officials frequently make top-secret visits to Syria to advise the regime on how to deal with the rebels.

As for Hizbullah, it has allegedly beefed up the deployment of its fighters along the Lebanese-Syrian border, in an attempt to prevent arms spillover to Sunni opposition groups.

Hizb far from allah is aiding assad? now way.... cannot believe it.... it is not true..... must be an israeli-american conspiracy to discredit the "glorious" resistance and divert attention from the zionist schemes.... must be!

If his army with tanks can't even beat a bunch of so called terrorists armed with rifles, I wonder what he will do if he has to face Israel one day, even if the Hezb is involved, he won't last 48hrs.

To e for Israel to bomb the nuclear plants in Iran. It'll calm them down.

Mowaten.
As an Israeli I can suggest to look for the nearest tree and hang yourself.
You just prove How much you understand what you are talking about.
You are not far with your sick opinion from Gebels and the Mufti of Jerusalem who declared Jihad on Jews same time as German created their final solution.
Where are the Nazis now? where is the Mufti? deep in hell.
Same will happen to you if you wouldn't stop your incitement showing your low I.Q same as a chimp.

The criminals have to stick together. Nassy's lies of non-interference must be proven false. He lies every time his mouth moves.

We left the area FT. No need for us anymore. We already planted the seeds of hatred and the harvesting is done by locals.

Missing helicopter 07 April 2012, 00:16

No JC,
The seeds of hatred were planted long long long time ago by the Ottomans who used Islam to rule the Middle East. Not only hatred, but bakhsheesh and few other wonderful traits that we have been practicing ever-since then. I believe Christians emigrated in masses before WWI ..... you should know, the US is full of them.

Better to be drunk with BOOZ than to be drunk with DIVINE power and DIVINE weapons. The latter causes much more harm to moderate intellectuals who do not want to toe in line.

This is why there needs to be air support. Some bombs need to drop on these killers.

i thought hezbi iranians were in favor of the liberation of the arab people from dictators....but in syrian it is double standards...

many syrians who fled syria said there were such people doing the bad deeds for assad their glorious leader!
i guess killing syrian citizens is resisting the sionists! LOL

I doubt this. Whoever believes this blindly should is not fit to follow politics. This report is based on Western intelligence, whom we all know dislike the trio of Iran, Assad and Hezbollah. Hezbollah's weapons are designed for long-range, guerilla warfare. They are useless for what Assad's military operations.

Cmon now, would you go to Hezbollah for information on Israel? They are a biased source, just as Western intelligence reports are. Western "intelligence" reports said Saddam Hussein had WMDs, just to fuel hatred against him. It's just politics.

P.S: Think outside the box.

lol

Missing gcb1 07 April 2012, 01:48

Qatar and Saudi Arabia have openly admitted that they've supplied weapons. Why does no one talk about them?

Missing gcb1 08 April 2012, 02:35

Or perhaps you don't take down anyone, and we unite as Arabs, or is that notion lost in the Arab political culture? Has this notion been replaced by which foreign power we are serving, whether Iran/Syria, or Saudi/US? Whatever happened to speaking in the name of one nation?

You all sit there and criticize one camp for serving the interests of another foreign country, but both sides do it. Unfortunately, it's the people that follow them that let them do this. Where is the logic that Sunnis support Hariri, Shi3as support Hezbollah/Amal, and Christians support either Geagea or Aoun? Why must a christian support a christian, and a sunni support a sunni, and so on?

Nothing wrong with arabs supporting their brotheren arabs with ammunition, money and political support. At least they're not getting the support from Iran or Israel.

Missing n3msp 07 April 2012, 07:01

I hope Hizb gives all their weapons to “abooloo” and run out of stock too!
Whether in Syria or Lebanon weapons are turned to the inside anyway, its not going to make much difference a terrorist is a terrorist… that’s you hassoun.

Missing forces 07 April 2012, 14:20

all this weapon supply chain is very much expected, I'm in favour of hezb giving all their weapons to assad, this will help him quell the fighting and rid us of the armed militia holding lebanon hostage. win/win.
