Jumblat Says Won't Rejoin March 14, Accuses Aoun of 'Paralyzing Everything'
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةProgressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblat has announced that he does not intend to rejoin the March 14 camp, slamming the Free Patriotic Movement as an “irrational” political movement that is “paralyzing everything.”
Commenting on his recent trip to Saudi Arabia in an interview to be published on Saturday, Jumblat hoped to restore his previous relation with the kingdom, saying Riyadh was dismayed by his support in 2011 for the nomination of Prime Minister Najib Miqati for premiership following the collapse of Saad Hariri’s government.
“I have not changed my stance: that (political) shift was necessary in order to spare the country sectarian tensions and to enter a transitional period,” Jumblat said.
He added that restoring the relation with the kingdom was the focus of his meeting in Saudi Arabia with Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal, stressing that talks did not tackle the Lebanese affairs.
Jumblat lamented the presence of “an irrational movement led by (MP) Michel Aoun that is paralyzing everything.”
“Unfortunately, Hizbullah is complying with his wishes,” Jumblat said, accusing Aoun of “seeking to control all the organs of the state: judiciary, security, politics, administration and elections.”
Asked about the relation with the March 14 camp, Jumblat said: “Our political interests may coincide over the issue of proportional representation, but I won’t rejoin March 14.”
“They don’t want to engage in dialogue over the issue of weapons and this is a central point of contention,” he added.
Jumblat accused “some parties in the majority” of seeking to trim his political influence through an electoral law based on proportional representation to punish him for “daring to stand in the face of the Syrian regime or criticizing it and backing the Syrian people’s revolution.”
He stressed that “proportional representation is aimed at eliminating centrist figures, such as President Michel Suleiman, Najib Miqati and Walid Jumblat,” describing it as an “electoral bulldozer.”
Asked about his current political alignment, Jumblat said: “I’m not in the March 14 camp, but that might change during the 2013 elections. I have agreed with Hizbullah, but said that I have a different stance concerning the Syrian regime. I disagree with March 8 concerning their unconditional support for Syria, Iran and Russia and I disagree with March 14 over their rejection of dialogue” over Hizbullah’s arms.
Turning to the Syrian crisis, Jumblat voiced his belief that Syrian President Bashar Assad’s ouster could spare Syria “a sectarian civil war.”
So, is Mr. Jumblatt in both camps or out of both camps? One can't tell. Quite an acrobatic feat, even for Mr. Jumpsalot
Of course, Aoun is paralyzing all the corruption and thefts in Lebanon, which is why you oppose him.
You want to continue to take more MP's than you represent to cover up your crimes.
But its ok, its only Friday, by Sunday you would have turned 180 degrees all over again.
This Jumb is like a crow which woke up at sunrise and became impressed by the size of its shade. He soliloquized himself believing that a crow so huge will definitely have a bull for lunch. As the sun rose in the sky its shade shrunk. The crow then downgraded its hope for a lamb instead of a bull. But when the sun reached its zenith the crow grew very hungry and its shade became very small in between its legs. He cried: God I am small and hungry; vouchsafe on me just an insect or a mouse to alleviate my hunger
If March 14 and March 8 and everyone in between have any dignity, they should get together and stone the scum bag to death any prostitute is dealt with under Sharia law. But one is a scum bag while the others are nothing better than low lives. For this reason, they deserve each other. But the poor and decent Lebanese are stuck between scum and filth. So sad.
That is exactly where he wants to be..... friend and enemy of all and none. Hezb and Syria are just as confused and can not decide whether to assassinate him or not, KSA is confused and can not decide whether to cut off financial gifts, M14 might collaborate with him during elections.... and so is the sad story for Lebanon. Lebanon is a place where politicians divide and prosper while the population is like sheep going willingly to the slaughter house.
Jumblat is a "nobody" but he spends his time trying to fool people into thinking he is the "most important body".
The entire process of having two political blocks is not to expand everyone's ideas, but to limit them. What if there were more than two political blocks in a country? More ideas are introduced to the public.
I respect his decision to not join any political "side" (March 8 or March 14 or whatever creative name you want to name it) and introduce his own ideas.
There is nothing wrong with disagreeing with political blocs and having an opinion that is unique to one's self. After all, every logical thinking person will have an opinion that is unique and may not match the so-called "public opinion" that is mostly influenced by the media and the limited (2) political blocks.
Pres Sleiman is with Proportional representation you fool. Don't use the Presidency to add weight to your argument if you are not going to return the authority lost to it as a result of the Saudi-Syrian-American orhestrated Taef agreement which removed power from the head of the state. The FPM is the only rational party in the history of Lebanese Politics. It's only irrational in your eye because it doesn't suit your sectarian and authortarian/totalitarian attitude. You will never be leader of ALL THE Druze...wishful thinking...just like your old foe Sam Gaga who thinks he can wipe out all christian leaders to be rep for all Christians (maybe just the criminal christians from Bcharre and it surroundings)...but these guys are both off with the fairies.
y'all are idiots... He's doing this to see which party gives his people the better deal
All of you are idiots... He's doing this to see which party gives his people the better deal
