Al-Mustaqbal Urges Miqati to Resign and Tripoli MPs to Boycott Parliamentary Sessions
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةAl-Mustaqbal movement urged Prime Minister Najib Miqati and Tripoli ministers on Sunday to resign after the General Security Department lured Shadi al-Mawlawi to arrest him on suspicion of contacting a terrorist organization.
Following a meeting held by al-Mustaqbal Coordination Council in the northern city, the conferees condemned in a statement al-Mawlawi’s arrest after luring him to Finance Minister Mohammed al-Safadi’s Social Services Center under the pretext of granting him a health care benefit.
The statement slammed the “audacity” of the security agency, saying it “disrespected the immunity that any MP enjoys in a democratic system.”
“We urge Prime Minister Najib Miqati and the city’s ministers to immediately submit their resignations over the violation of public and personal freedoms in clear contravention of the Lebanese constitution,” it said.
The statement, which was read by al-Mustaqbal official Mustafa Alloush, also called on Tripoli MPs to boycott parliamentary sessions and meetings of legislative committees pending the release of al-Mawlawi.
Alloush also demanded a “clear and honest apology from the General Security Department for harming Tripoli and its citizens.”
Al-Mawlawi’s arrest caused gunbattles between the rival neighborhoods of Bab al-Tabbaneh and Jabal Mohsen that left three people, including a soldier, dead.
Another meeting was held on Sunday at the house of MP Mohammed Kabbara by lawmakers Khaled al-Daher, Moeen al-Merehbi and security leaderships.
The conferees agreed to withdraw gunmen from the streets to pave way for the army’s deployment to contain the fighting.
"The conferees agreed to withdraw gunmen from the streets " ?!?!?!?!
WTF!!!! Correct me if I am wrong.... "The conferees" were Kabbara and other "lawmakers"... right? So these guys admittedly have gunmen that they control?????? Someone please clarify!!!
Can someone explain to me what's the problem if security forces did their jobs and arrested a wanted man ??? And what about the method used ? Is this the first time that they lure somebody to arrest him ? Don't they have the right to do so ? Common people ! how do u talk about wanting a strong lebanese state and you act against it's securty forces ? The big question for me is : Why did the security forces had to lure Mawlawi. Couldn't they get him from home ? Or it's forbidden for them ???
Right; he should resign because the Salafi community is butt-hurt over the arrest of a suspected terrorist...LOL! Those hungry for power say the craziest things!
What happened to the SUSPECTS or 4 members of Hizbollah that killed Harriri? How come we did not lure them and grabbed them especially that the citizens of Lebanon tax money paid enough for the STL to find those who assassinated all the political figures at that time? We are so brave to catch ANYONE 1% suspect if it belongs to an anti-syrian group. That's why you have extremists on both sides because we do not exercise justice in a fair manner.
Mawlawi must be very important man in Lebanon. He is good enough reason to start a civil war in Lebanon. My gut feeling tells me the battles will be done in Lebanon again.
First I like to hear what the charges against Mawlawi are. If they are valid then I do not care how they lured him or what happened to the 4 that killed Harriri, he should be apprehended. But if they are not valid then I am with you. We can not let one criminal go because other criminals from other groups are being at large. We must be the change we like to see.
what is the matter with u naharnet? trying to ignite civil war?it's a farsi wahhaby conflict dont u see it,or the philosophy of edmon saab is endoctrinated in u
This is another proof that Hariri Mafia is also Hariri's Al Qaeda - Akkar and Tripoli Brigades. Therefore, Hariri and his terrorists must have their necks severed as soon as possible, to be followed by Dr. Mohammad Geagea al Manfalouty and his thugs as well as Walid Jumblat and his thugs.
Maybe all of them should resign? Maybe all of march 14 and march 8 clowns should resign from political life?
I do agree with you regarding M14 but allow me to express my scepticism regarding the whole lebanese political cast. After all we might label them M8 and M14 today but they have been around at least for the last 30 or 50 years, changing and evolving accordingly to the regional/global situation; their only goal is self-perpetuation. I had big hopes in General Aoun but the way I see it, the system got the best of him. He chose a lead role in a cage...
1- Bring the 4 Hizbollah to the court room and defend the accusation in court. Guilty until proven otherwise.
2- 4 Generals ordered and worked together in the clean up of the crime scene, part of every investigation is to monitor and hold the head of the snake w/o any bail simply for failure to follow normal crime procedures and doing their job.
3- Bring those criminals who failed to assassinate at Mustapha Geha (Anti-khomeyni)
4- Bring those criminals that kidnapped the priest in the Bekaa(Same armed group pointing their arms at Israel ONLY)
