Hariri: Street Action Not Conducted by Undisciplined Forces, but Sides Seeking to Undermine the State

Former Prime Minister Saad Hariri slammed on Thursday the latest security instability in Lebanon, most notably the unrest in Beirut, saying that any action on the ground is aimed at “undermining the authority of the state.”

He said in a statement: “The street action was not conducted by undisciplined forces as some sides would lead the people to believe, but some powers are orchestrating the developments in order to create chaos, terrorize the people, and undermine the state’s authority.”

“The state must assume its duties and control the security of the whole of Lebanon and the country’s various vital facilities,” he continued.

“We reject any street action, regardless of its sectarian or political affiliations,” he added.

“Any action must take place within the authority of the law and within the Lebanese people’s rights to express themselves through legitimate democratic action,” explained Hariri.

The state took a step in the right direction by ordering that political cover be lifted off the sides creating the unrest, stressing that “lifting security cover and armed protection of the sides blocking the roads is the real request,” continued the former prime minister.

He slammed the sides “creating chaos and organizing sit-ins in Beirut, Tripoli, Sidon and other regions.”

“Some sides are providing the security and logistic support for the powers that are creating chaos. These forces are known to all and this situation must stop,” he stressed.

“The recent developments in Beirut jeopardize peace and national stability,” he noted.

Interior Minister Marwan Charbel on Wednesday launched a one-month security plan aimed at restoring stability in Lebanon.

“We hope that the one-month security plan will be implemented throughout the year,” he added.

The the first day of the plan however was marred by the blocking of the airport highway and attempts to cut other roads in the capital in protest at the arrest of Wissam Alaeddine, a member of the group that attacked al-Jadeed television’s building on Monday.

The day also witnessed rioting inside a Justice Palace courtroom in Baabda during the trials of 14 suspects transferred from the Roumieh prison.

Meanwhile, a personal dispute between members of the families of Jaafar and Dirani and Palestinian elements erupted into gunfire on Wednesday in the Beirut southern suburb of Bourj al-Barajneh.

The incident did not cause any casualties, the agency added.

Yeah Confucius....we do know it all. And it's not what your pea-sized brain alludes to. From your stand point the state is HA which was forced down all our throats by force. Get a life!

Missing allouchi 28 June 2012, 18:28

mowaten, you don't have any credibility, you're just like perrot that keeps repeating the same things over and over...you are boring us...Lebanon is not KSA and not Iran either..get it in your thick head and move on.

Thumb bigsami 28 June 2012, 18:40

Motormouth....give it a break. Your posts are worthless as are your constant misinformation that has been drilled into your empty skull. Lebanon is not a kingdom like Saudi but nor will it be a suppressed society like Iran which is the ultimate goal of your beloved cave-dwelling Hassan. Your are pathetic. If you like that type of society...pack your mule and move. You and your follower have no right to force your ideologies on us. Leave our country in peace!

Thumb bigsami 28 June 2012, 19:34

What force? Were you recently defrosted from a deep freeze in the arctics? That should explain it all knucklehead. You don't recall your boys/thugs rampaging the city and ousting existing gov't. and pointing guns at all? You call that democratic you moron? You and your backward people (as to ideology this is what I am referring to....hint...hint) are in power now NOT because of what the majority of Lebanese want but because of illegitimate arms fed to you by the evil rulers of Iran and Syria. These are the same ideologies of leaders who enjoy suppressing human rights by force and torture....something that you seem to enjoy. Sick. Just be thankful you have a screen to hide. I would be your worse nightmare if our paths ever crossed!

Thumb bigsami 28 June 2012, 19:45

You are so out of it....and I know you are the same deadbeat at FT. Parliamentary election won by majority? LMAO! HA orchestrated this entire coup if you want to call it by threatening those who would stand in it's way while killing those who did (God rest your soul Rafik). Unlike your thugs and scums at least Hariri was placed on the throne by the people and NOT BY THE GUN! You make me sick. That's why you and the likes of you should again, pack the mules and leave out country. And you call yourself a Lebanese. Your an insult to the country.

Allah yi7meek ya Sheikh. Wise as always.

Hezbollah has been undermining the State for a decade. Even when they're in it, part of it they weaken it. The question is why? Well, to control it even more...

Look at what they did to the 2500 y.o Phoenician Port of Beirut. The minister in charge should serve life, the entrepreneur punished by death. and when the Towers will be completely built, someone should dynamite them.

Thumb benzona 28 June 2012, 20:14

Va lire l'OLJ. Tu seras servi. Il est en effet dommage que ça ne soit pas relayé ici... FPM ou HA, c'est Kif-Kif, l'habit ne fait pas le moine.

"since they lost power they hung on to what they do best: create strife hoping to decredibilize the government"

exactly what M8 has been doing for years...you are blind or you forgot already?
stop accusing others of what your party has been doing for years or admit that you are the champions in undermining the state authority starting with being illegally armed and deciding when to launch war or not....
you are sooooooo funny mowaten!

Thumb bigsami 28 June 2012, 18:34

Motomouth....you state "since they lost power". I think we all recall a different story. Your beloved leader and his ruthless barbarians killers turned their guns on Lebanese and FORCED the existing government out against the will of the majority who has voted this gov't. to represent the people by the will of the people!

You have the balls to call me pothead. The only delusional people are those like you who ignorantly beleive all the BS HA feeds you. Again, naive and brainwashed like all of your followers. Wake up and smell the roses...when Hassan says they are here as the 'resistance' to protect you from the Israelis, it's a LIE! What Lebanon needs is someone to protect us all from the 'resistance'.

If they can point the finger to some "dark forces" wanting unstability then they can avoid their responsibility in safety and security in the country.

Thumb phoenician 28 June 2012, 20:12

They are trying to completely abolish and annihilate the true idendity of Lebanon(phoenicia) they are trying to arabize everything even our education system. WE ARE PHOENICIANS and NOT Arabs, history geography and DNA testing has proved that beyond doubt.

Thumb primesuspect 28 June 2012, 21:38

I prefer the name of Canaanites to Phoenicians... because it can be confused with its largest colony in North Africa (Carthago) founded in 814BC by Dido (Elissa)... They eventually became more powerful than our cities, more dramatic even, they resisted and survived the Romans for centuries longer than we did. Canaan will be just fine ;-)

Thumb bigsami 28 June 2012, 22:46

Phonecian.....it is highly possible that through time DNA gets damaged and we end up with rejects likes Motormouth, FT? lol!

I only will post one comment and call it a day,

I read what you all say and its funny to me,

but you guys call The Sayed "the rat" "the cave dweller"

"King Rat" etc....but if you think bout it, "King Rat"

and Michel Aoun who you guys call " Senile" "Old Prick"

"nut case",my point is this if "King Rat" and "senile nut case"

run the whole nation, than what does that say bout all you Lebanese

that are against them, but at there mercy.....strange isnt it?

Good Day to all....

Missing allouchi 29 June 2012, 14:57

theResistance, The rat and senile have illegal weapons..we are civilians...they control the country by force...very simple really and good day to you too.

I am with you primesuspect but before carthage the Phoenicians(as you rightly said were the canaanites) had achieved so much before their downfall so i am proud of us regardless. If you like tyoe suryoyo in your browser and you get to find out about the Syriac Maronites,Assyrians of Irag and Syria who immigrated to Sweden and still kept the Aramaic language which derives from Phoenician which am learning now as it was our mother tongue before we were counquered by the Arabs.

Thumb primesuspect 28 June 2012, 22:34

There are dozens of dialects of Aramaic. The one that survived is in Syria in the town of Maaloula. But you know, Aramaic is the ancestor of modern arabic & hebrew. The language we speak in Lebanon has much in common. It's like Spanish/Italian/French that come from Latin... it's an evolution. Keep in mind the history of the Nabateans from the Arabic peninsula that were also speaking Aramaic and that slowly merged with the local arabic way before the birth of the prophet Muhammad. I once attended an exhibition where cuneiform tablets were shown, that was before the creation of the Alphabet by our ancestors. Well, guess what the pronunciation of the words (transcription) was almost identical to the 'arabic' language we speak today, that was amazing!

Thumb phoenician 28 June 2012, 22:57

Absolutely correct prime suspect, but if i may add that Akkadian is the oldest known written language but it wasnt alphabetical, the first ever written alphabet is created by the Phoenicians that gave birth to Aramaic than hebrew than greek than latin. And yes Arabic did derive from Aramaic.

Thumb Marouni 28 June 2012, 23:34

There are two very interesting links about the phoenicians the first is a great documentary about Phoenicians and their connection to todays Lebanese.
The second one is from a guy who has tried to learn Phoenician somehow he claims that it might have sounded like in his videos .

Bigsami, ive had a run in with FT before and unfortunately most times his remarks and opinions are almost entirely based on assumption and sentiments and not facts. I am sorry FT

Thumb bigsami 29 June 2012, 17:18

Assumptions? I guess what happened 5-6 years ago was not a fact when HA came down on the Lebanese at gun point shutting down TV stations and taking over most the city. It must have been a dream. I actually thought you had some sense in you P.

Thumb bigsami 29 June 2012, 17:20

I also suggest you fast forward to the present. Nice to know history but that's not going to save the country from these scums.

Thumb phoenician 29 June 2012, 00:18

And if i may add that before Britain and France re-maped the world in the 40's Gallile was in Phoenicia,Bethlehem the birth place of Jesus is in Gallile which make's Jesus. ......... AN ISRAELITE born in Phoenicia. I so proud.

Thumb lebanon_first 29 June 2012, 01:11

phoenician, I am not trying to reduce the value of our heritage, but you should strive to find pride in your current actions more than in your genes or ancestors, who you cannot really take credit for.. :-)

Yes of course Mr Hariri! But didnt we hear it before?from Ben Ali,Mubarek,Ghadafi, and Ali Salah? That the cause of the troubles is those "strange from no where coming" sides seeking to undermine the state and stability in the region. Of course it should be that, otherwise the syrian people has no reason to rise against Asads regime, because they are enjoying democraty, liberty and prosperity. They are just satisfied and happy ! Dammit! These"joykillers" and"terrorists"are desperately trying to destroy the " syrian Dream".Arabic spring? No, this "spring" doesnt exist and is just propaganda of Elkaida,Israeland probably the devil himself!
HOW LONG THEESE LEADERS WILL REPEAT THEM SELF,ALTHOUGH THEY ARE FALLING DOWN ATTER EEACHOTHER? hOW LONG WILL THEY CONSIDERE THE ARABIC PEOLPLE AND THE REST OF THE WORD AS STUPID AND MENTALLY RETARDED?

Apparently, the leadership of Al Mustaqbal is not conducted by a competent, intelligent and courageous man who is present in body and soul among his followers tackling tough issues with them but it is conducted my an unqualified coward and a runaway imbecile who was picked to inherit the post mainly because those who picked him wanted someone malleable that they can be mold into the shape of a man. We miss you cheikh Saad. Life is boring without your below kindergarten level stuttering speeches. bel ro7, bel dam, bel nateneh, yafdouk ya cheikh Ski Nautique.

Thumb phoenician 29 June 2012, 08:59

@ lebanon-first

The above remarks are clearly based on assumption and are very pessimistic and immature Sir. You are not aware of my current actions and activities towards Lebanon and our community. I was merely sharing with pride a few facts about our heritage which believe me not a great deal of Lebanese know about. It strikes me that you are a type of person who has his cup half empty instead of half full, alongside the three people who put their thumbs up to your comment. Inadequate imbecile.
