Interior Minister Marwan Charbel said Thursday that Hizbullah and AMAL Movement do not protect or support any person who violates the law, adding that the issue of Sheikh Ahmed al-Asir’s open-ended sit-in will be resolved soon.

“Hizbullah and AMAL are against blocking roads and their ministers emphasized that the two groups will not provide political cover for any person who violates the law,” Charbel told LBC.

He added that most of the people arrested Wednesday were wanted on arrest warrants.

Charbel on Wednesday launched a one-month security plan aimed at restoring stability in Lebanon.

Turning to the issue of Sheikh Ahmed al-Asir’s open-ended protest, the Interior Minister said that “the issue will be resolved soon,” stressing that “the removal of weapons is being discussed by the national dialogue committee.”

Supporters of Sheikh al-Asir blocked Sidon’s northern entrance with their bodies Wednesday night to protest illegitimate arms.

Al-Asir warned in remarks to VDL (100.5) that he would take escalatory measures if the issue of non-state arms were not resolved.

"Hizbullah and AMAL Movement do not protect or support any person who violates the law"..right because they rather break the law themselves...what a joke :)
