Geagea: Some Security Authorities Still Consider Syrian Intelligence as Their Friend

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea slammed on Thursday the assassination attempt against MP Butros Harb, questioning how the security forces have so far failed in uncovering any lead in any of the assassinations against March 14 officials.

He said: “Some security agencies only protect the LF and Mustaqbal Movement, while others still consider Syrian intelligence as their friend.”

He made his remarks after holding talks with deputy Speaker Farid Makari and LF MP Antoine Zahra.

“The March 14 camp is constantly being targeted. Parliament does not move a muscle to tackle the case of Harb, who has served as a lawmaker for 40 years, while uproar is created over lesser affairs,” noted Geagea.

“Can someone tell me why assassinations have only targeted March 14 figures?” he asked.

“That is because they are the only powers working for achieving a strong, free, and independent Lebanon,” he declared.

“Harb was the target today and the rest of the camp is also a target. Who has the freedom of mobility to perform such actions?” he wondered.

“How are Israeli spy networks uncovered, but none of the leads in the assassination attempts?” he continued.

Furthermore, he questioned “the other camp’s failure to condemn the assassination attempt,” noting that it tries “through all means possible to constantly belittle these developments.”

“How long will this situation persist? Do they want us to take to the streets and burn tires? We won’t do so because this is not part of our culture,” Geagea stressed.

“We will instead prepare for the 2013 parliamentary elections against all who do not assume their responsibilities in state in order to end the current poor security, economic, and social situation,” declared the LF chief.

You're right Samir. A foreign intelligence cannot be considered as a friend no matter the country. They can collaborate and that's the limit!

WTFFF....1 hour ago...U.S. Senator John McCain stressed after meeting Geagea the need to set up a safe zone for the Free Syrian Army and opposition to allow them to organize their affairs, carry out trainings, and cater to the wounded. McCain should be blown up or thrown out of Lebanon for such remarks. How can u support terrorists against a government more than 50% of the people support?

Bravo well spoken.

Geagea. You matured. And you are speaking right. But we do not trust you as a person. Your history is too tainted in blood. Please step down. And give the leadership of the Lebanese forces to a clean leader without blood on his hands.

Agree. But this also applies to Aoun, Jumblatt etc...

I like Samir, but we need renewal. New blood.

@ lebanon_first, for all due respect,
Please tell me who doesn't have blood tainted in his hands ? during the war period everybody made mistakes, all the parties killed so who doesn't have blood on it hands ? stop that cheap propaganda against Samir Geagea because the country is in enough deep shit because of people like you who vote for FPM kermel l 7e2d 3a samir geagea so enough is enough. Secondly, the Lebanese Forces is a democratic party based on a comity and popular delegation who decide what is right and what is wrong. The day when his policy will be off limit, he will no longer be the LF leader. It's up to the people, this is democracy.
