International Tribunal: Indictment Will Name Suspects but Not Parties
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةActing Special Tribunal for Lebanon Registrar Herman von Hebel has reportedly informed top Lebanese officials that the indictment in ex-Premier Rafik Hariri’s assassination case would include the names of suspects but would not refer to any party or political team.
An Nahar newspaper said Saturday that Von Hebel met with the officials away from the media spotlight.
As acting registrar, von Hebel is in charge of the organ of the tribunal which provides administrative, legal and other support essential for the successful completion of the institution’s mandate.
Last month, STL Prosecutor Daniel Bellemare filed an amended indictment based on further evidence in the probe into the 2005 killing of Hariri.
The first indictment, filed by Bellemare in January, is widely believed to name Hizbullah members.
The tribunal has said that it hoped to start "at least pre-trial and some trial proceedings" this year.
