Lebanese national Elias Adib Andraous was temporarily kidnapped on Friday after his captors suspected he was supporting the Syrian opposition, reported the National News Agency on Saturday.

He was released by the kidnappers on dawn on Saturday after being beaten and robbed by the assailants.

He explained that he was intercepted by the abductors, who were riding on a motorcycle, as he was driving on the Mar-Taqla-Sed al-Boushriyeh roundabout.

Andraous was forced at gunpoint to allow them into his car and they drove him to the Zoaiteriyeh neighborhood in al-Fanar area in the Metn district.

Upon his arrival, he was blindfolded and taken into another car.

He was transported to a house where he was imprisoned in a dark room and beaten by the captors.

Andraous was asked if he supports the Syrian revolution, before being robbed of L.L.300,000 and two mobile phones.

The kidnappers then released him in the Dekweneh neighborhood where they had transported his car.

He promptly headed to his hometown of Souq al-Gharb in the Aley district where he informed security forces of his plight.

He has since been taken to hospital for treatment and investigations are underway to apprehend the assailants.

The authorities can triangulate his mobile phones signals anf find out exactly where this dark room was. I don't expect them to do it though.

"Suspected his Support of Syrian Revolt", or simply interested in robbing the guy, but as it is "a la mode" now to claim that abductions are for "noble reasons"...
