Al-Jadeed TV Attacker Released on Bail
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةThe Beirut accusatory body headed by Judge Nada Dakroub on Wednesday decided to release Wissam Alaeddine, the suspect in the attack on al-Jadeed television, on a LBP 2 million bail.
Dakroub had issued an arrest warrant for Alaeddine that expired today. On July 4, she overruled a decision by Beirut Examining Magistrate Judge Ghassan Owaidat to release Alaeddine and keep him under judicial supervision.
Alaeddine is charged with attempted murder and the possession of weapons.
He was one of several gunmen who attacked al-Jadeed television's headquarters in the Beirut neighborhood of Wata el-Msaytbeh in June.
The group opened fire on the building, hurled Molotov bombs and set fire to tires at its entrance.
Alaeddine was detained at the scene after his clothes caught fire.
The attack came after Salafist cleric Sheikh Ahmed al-Assir launched a scathing attack on Hizbullah and AMAL Movement during an interview with the station.
Later on Wednesday, heavy celebratory gunfire erupted near Alaeddine's residence in the Beirut neighborhood of Zoqaq al-Blat. Convoys also roamed several streets in Beirut in celebration of the move.

I beg to differ with your comment as follows:
- this guy has been clearly identified as a perpetrator, thus he is a criminal.
- Karam is a convicted traitor, thus he is a criminal.
- Tripoli smuggler: he was alleged to be a smuggler with no proofs whatsoever.
- Naher el bared: they are criminals who have served more than whatever sentence could be set on them by law, and this is why they are being released.
so basically the ones jeoparding the rule of law are the ones in office supposed to uphold the rule of law, which itself is ironic..
it is like the state is destroying itself from within, which is actually what hizbushaitan wants.
yes they want this to push us towards either accepting their rule or taksim.
from that perspective, I am with taksim as it would be the only alternative for law abiding citizens.

there is no twisting of facts on my part :)
- regarding the criminals of nahr el bared that have been "released", and according to judicial information we saw in the news: the maximum these guys would have been sentenced with would have been 2 years less than the period they have already been in jail.
please do check your facts before accusing others of twisting reality :)
i see where you are coming from. and i hate the nahr el bared terrorists more than you. However the ones that were released are just "symphatizers" to fath el islam. They did nothing criminal and yet they stayed 4 yrs in jail. THose on whom we have proof are still in custody.
I wish he were 'accidentally' killed while in custody--better yet, throw him over the fence to Israel and let them deal him. The problem in this country, and especially with this cabinet, is that it lacks the balls to make decisions especially to law and order. Look at the kidnappings, road blockages and random gang violence---nobody is going to jail and staying there.
This country is going nowhere, our judges are partial and politicized... A sad reality. This man shouldn't be released ever...
i wonder if moqdad will be back as a hero or put in jail for his bouncing checques.
if they release a criminal in achrafieh or jounieh are we allowed to fire in the air or its life in prison?
If our forefathers had known how wretched, corrupt, idiotic, arrogant and just plain dumb we would become as a society, they would have never bothered fighting for our independance...the lebanese belong in a zoo..we deserve to be ruled by a dictator...
