Geagea, Gemayel Inspect Ashrafiyeh Bomb Site: We Will Continue Our Path

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea and Phalange Party leader Amin Gemayel on Friday inspected the scene of the bombing that killed Intelligence Bureau chief Brig. Gen. Wissam al-Hasan and seven other people in the Beirut district of Ashrafiyeh.

“Whatever they do, we will continue our path,” Geagea vowed in televised remarks.

“Why Wissam al-Hasan? Because he arrested (ex-minister) Michel Samaha,” Geagea noted.

Hasan was close to former Prime Minister Saad Hariri and hostile to the regime in Syria. He had been tipped to take over as ISF head at the end of this year.

The ISF played a central role in the arrest in August of former information minister Samaha, who has close links to Damascus and was charged with planning attacks in Lebanon and transporting explosives in collaboration with Syrian security chief Maj. Gen. Ali Mamlouk.

“What happened is a strong security blow to the current government if it has the minimum sense of patriotism,” Geagea said.

“They can kill one or two persons, but they can't kill all the people,” the LF leader declared.

Gemayel, for his part, said “it is a new martyrdom for the sake of Lebanon,” wishing the wounded a speedy recovery.

“The loss of Brig. Gen. Wissam al-Hasan is a loss for entire Lebanon,” he added.

The powerful car bomb rocked a street adjacent to Sassine Square in Ashrafiyeh, leaving Hasan and seven other people dead and 78 people wounded, in the first such attack in the Lebanese capital since 2008.

Well obviously because he has better opportunities in brazil, and because groups like hezballah and the Syrian regime prevent the economy and business in Lebanon from prospering. Smart ass.

Default-user-icon salwa (Guest) 19 October 2012, 22:10

My heart goes out to the families of the dead and to those who are injured, but if Lebanese factions & people start fighting among each other, only those who want to control and want your territory will be the winners.

Please do not allow the past to repeat itself. Allow the official investigation to proceed even if they cannot immediately find the culprits. Do not allow your enemies to succeed in getting you to fight each other & weaken the country through many wounds, no matter what.

Some of the comments I read above are so irresponsible, by people who seem to be easily manipulated, like waving red in front of a bull.

After closely and carefully inspecting the scene of the crime, inspector general Geagea and his twin Gemayel located the fragments of the Syrian flag that was drawn on the explosive device. This was not the first time that these two solve a complex crime. All the credit goes to their long years working in the domain of criminals and criminal acts.

Honestly, why are the lebanese so crooked and corrupt? Why do the lebanese shine only when they leave Lebanon? Why are lebanese more successful outside of Lebanon? What type of government (if any) do we have in Lebanon? will we ever as lebanese elect a government that we can all agree on? Maybe Lebanon was portrayed as "libnan al akhdar" because of all the hashish consumed and money laundering. Yalla, God bless all the victims and their families, and may the souls of the deceased rest in Peace. It seems that Lebanon does not belong the lebanese anymore. It was corruptly sold at the price of blood and souls of people searching for peace and love.

It is the Hizbolah assasination squad team again acting in cohut with syrian Intelligence. The party of resistance is really the party of destroying Lebanon and all its forms of Government! It is time for all the Lebanese to rally against this murderous terrorist group!
No more hiding behind that Resistance Bullshit, enough is enough.
Enough killing, enough dictatorships, enough emasculation attempts on the rest of the Lebanese who don't agree with that Wilayat al batikh-Assad-hizbollah axis. WE WANT TO LIVE FREE AN BE FREE!

No Lebanese will tolerate the dicatatorship of guns against the principles of democracy and freedom. The hell with the Ayatollahs of death jerking off in Tehran and we have to pay the price. It is about time for enlightined Shiaa to rise up agianst the demagogue Nasrallah and his Wilayat al batikh click. It is about time for the proud Iranian people to rise up against the Ayatollahs of death and cowardness, in the name of religion.
