Aoun: Some Parties Turning al-Hasan Assassination into Political Battle

إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربية W460

Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun on Sunday accused "some parties" of turning the assassination of Internal Security Forces Intelligence Bureau chief Maj. Gen. Wissam al-Hasan into a "political battle," warning that violence "would facilitate the mission of those plotting against Lebanon."

"Maj. Gen. Wissam al-Hasan is the martyr of the entire country, not only the martyr of his security institution," Aoun said at a press conference in Rabiyeh.

"We will join everyone in honoring martyr al-Hasan," he noted.

The FPM leader called on the government to "mobilize quickly to address the material damage in Ashrafiyeh."

Hasan and at least three other people were killed and more than 100 others wounded in a powerful rush-hour car bombing on Friday that hit the Ashrafiyeh district in Beirut.

The force of the explosion gutted two apartment blocs, tearing off balconies and shattering windows. Falling masonry crushed cars parked below.

Commenting on the unrest that broke out in the wake of Hasan's assassination, Aoun warned that “the blocking of roads and violence in all its forms will harm those who are doing such acts and facilitate the mission of those who are plotting against the country."

"Hasan's assassination must not be exploited to sow sedition," he stressed.

"The occasion must take place with dignity and respect for the martyr and we must not turn it into a riot that may lead to uncontrollable repercussions," Aoun cautioned.

"We reiterate our condemnation of the crime and we hope everyone will take into consideration what we cautioned against today because the situation does not bear incitement," he added.

Angry youths continued on Saturday their protests against Internal Security Forces Intelligence Bureau head Brigadier General Wissam al-Hasan's assassination on Friday by blocking roads in various regions throughout the country.

Angry protesters took to the streets across the country as news of Hasan's assassination broke, as violence erupted in the northern city of Tripoli.

Clashes also broke out Friday night between rival groups in Tripoli's Abi Samra neighborhood, amid an exchange of gunfire between the rival neighborhoods of Bab al-Tabbaneh and Jabal Mohsen.

Sheikh Abdul Razzaq al-Asmar was killed in the unrest and the army has since intervened to restore calm.

His supporters though - how can you follow someone blindly into the wall. Inno harb ettihrir he got brothers (in the army at the time) to shoot at their brothers (LF at the time). Fine
He killed his own kind (Christians) in the name of freeing the country from armed militias. Only the army needed to have arms back then. Fine
Now he's in bed with a Shiite armed militia (directly). He's in bed with the Syrians and Iranians (indirectly). How diluted and blind can his followers possibly be?

M8 is morally accomplices of this murder, so aoun better be quiet and have a low profile together with its supporters on this site!

how can he claim to make peace with syria when syria still kills lebanese people... only for him to stay in power and make money...

Missing peace 21 October 2012, 14:55

but samaha being a syrian agent has nothing to do with M8 LOL
whose side is he with then? M14? FSA?
oh! but i see: he got caught so now M8 are saying they have nothing to do with him...

These guys kill people and then walk in there funeral. This should make all the lebanese who love Lebanon realize who the real threat is, the inner threat. It's sno salamis or Wahhabis. It's the traitors who are working with Iran and Syria to destabilize Lebanon. And I don't think America isn't innocent because America and Syria are working together. A war with between Israel and Iran is about to go down, this is why they want to turn Lebanese against hizbulshaytan which is a good thing but the timing of the events can only be orchestrated from the higher up. Hizbulshaytan will go down the sewer. But only after many sacrifices and steadfastness is made. You want to be victorious , you have to fight for your rights

God bless General Michel Aoun, a true statesman and man of honor.

Missing samiam 21 October 2012, 15:02

I guess honor involves turning on your countrymen and ideals. He was a man of honor and integrity, but now has taken his own stoic patriotism and allied his change and reform party with mercenaries who have no loyalty to Lebanon and another group led by perhaps the most corrupt politician this country has ever known. The ideals of his party are only ideals and will never get implemented or even see the light of day which his allies.

To top things off, he quickly made peace with a regime which still holds hundreds of Lebanese in their jails and doesn't account for the thousands who went missing during the syrian occupation.

You may call him a man of honor, but traitorous is what his actions are showing us.

Default-user-icon Skyfall (Guest) 21 October 2012, 16:52

@ FT, Aoun has been nothing but critical and more than often on Wissam Al Hassan and Achraf rifi. He has always wanted them out, downgraded their efforts, wanted to get them out of the picture. Wissam al Hassan was a man of the shadows, loved, worked from all his heart for Lebanon. He cought Israeli and Syrian spies and most importantly Samaha. Samaha is well known to have been an ex kataeb turned prosyrian agent.

Default-user-icon Skyfall (Guest) 21 October 2012, 16:56

@ FT only fools like FPM supporters would really believe that Aoun's apologies are sincere and honest. He never gave the martyr Wissam al Hassan credit for anything, always wanted to fire him with Ashraf rifi. He is siding with the same people that have killed him.

Default-user-icon Skyfall (Guest) 21 October 2012, 17:00

@ FT, It is clear that the syrians did that with the help of no one else than JAMIL el SAYED. Follow my theory. Jamil el sayyed got out of prison, said he wanted revenge for what happened to him and said he will have it from the hariri clan. He specified Hariri clan. And Wissam was like a brother to Saad and were very close. Than Samaha case and how convenient that Ali mamlouk which is Jamil sayed former best friend because they occupied the same position in their respective countries and are known to be close. then you have Jamil el sayed's name appearin g the last months till Wissam's death. He was the chief of secret services of police and he had full information of everything everywhere, but tell me , which networks are outside state control? we all know the answer to that. And who was amin 3am amen el 3al? Jamil el Sayed. He still had people at the airport. They were watching Hassan coming back from Paris and killed him next day.

Default-user-icon Skyfall (Guest) 21 October 2012, 17:03

There is no other perpetrator exept syria and her lebanese allies. The distraction was to provoque a full out war so bachar can use Hezbollah's full capacities and stop smuggling from the northern borders. i dont think Hezbollah is directly involved this time, but it is clearly Ali Mamlouk, Jamil el Sayed , that did this. And your general has been always protecting them regardless what Jamil did to FPM supporters during syria's presence. You will tell me other peopl from march 14th were in those governemens, i say yes but at least they got the chance to get out of it and pursue a true independance. And what are you doing ? you always have the choice but you choice wrong and for all the wrong reasons( Aoun's Hate of the hariris that brought nothing but good people RIad salemeh, Wissam al HAssan, Daoud el Sayegh, Mohammed Safadi, etc..)

Quote FT: Did you hear aoun on kalam il ness? he said he was not a coward and i believe him. he didnt run to the embassy.. he was fighting the syrians single handed the whole time..he didnt leave his wife and daughter behind.. he had them in his pocket as he was on the way to france.

When news broke out that Aoun's convoy passing through Saida was shot at, Aoun did not refrain from exploiting this event politically even though this was a big lie.

Now that we have a political murder hitting yet again against M14, it is only normal that M14 takes a political stance. 1) it's politics and 2) it's a war staged on M14 by Syria and its allies to dominate Lebanon. Should M14 sit and do nothing about it?

Come on Mr. Aoun, you are most hypocritical. You refuse for your opponents what you allow big time for you.

These comments only show how ignorant some Lebanese are and how brainwashed you are by our leaders. Each and every one of you have had a part in voting for these leaders and that makes you equally responsible for al-hassan's death. Does logic tell you Aoun or any of his allies would just kill someone from the 14th so idiots like you will end up pointing fingers at them? How stupid and ignorant and blinded to the truth are you? The only people benefiting here are the ones that want to see a civil war in Lebanon and until yesterday i thought everyone was equally guilty but after what i saw yesterday and i saw live on TV your sacred 14th leaders are instigating people against each other instead of being true leaders and calm their followers i can simply tell you the only people who want war in Lebanon are the leaders of the 14th...
