Mouawad Urges Lebanese in Australia to Vote in 2013: Iranian Hegemony Replacing Syrian Hegemony

Independence Movement leader Michel Mouawad on Sunday warned that “there is an attempt in Lebanon to replace the Syrian hegemony with an Iranian hegemony,” urging Lebanese expatriates in Australia to vote heavily in the 2013 parliamentary elections.

“Although the threat of the Syrian regime has not ended, it cannot change the equation in Lebanon anymore,” Mouawad said during a meeting with members of the Lebanese community in Australia.

Mouawad noted that “the real threat that has started to emerge is the Iranian regime, which wants to make up for its losses in Syria and Palestine by seizing full control of Lebanon at any cost.”

The March 14 leader added that his political camp is in the middle of a major confrontation.

“This confrontation is clear to everyone as there is an endeavor to turn Lebanon into a veiled dictatorship that reins in free voices. As if (journalist and March 14 activist) Nadim Qteish is paving the ground for strife in Lebanon, while those who assassinated (Intelligence Bureau chief Maj. Gen.) Wissam al-Hasan … are not stirring strife,” Mouawad added.

“The latest assassination has awakened us to realize that March 14 can only win the battle when it is unified, because the Cedar Revolution is not only the policies of certain parties and forces, but also the cause of a nation. It is about sovereignty and democracy, it is the face of pluralism and moderation and it transcends sects,” Mouawad stressed.

The March 14 leader described the latest political document issued by the March 14 forces as “a roadmap for elections, for forming a clear parliamentary majority and then a government that confronts anyone who stands against the Lebanese state's sovereignty.”

“We don't have a problem with anyone, except with those who are against sovereignty,” Mouawad added.

He called on Lebanese emigrants to heavily register for the upcoming elections at the Lebanese consulates and to shoulder their responsibility, “because Lebanon needs its expatriates, especially those in Australia which is a strategic stronghold for the battle for sovereignty in Lebanon.”

“The upcoming vote is the most important vote in Lebanon's modern history. To be or not to be. We should win the majority in the upcoming elections and regain the country from (Syrian President Bashar) Assad and (Iranian President Mahmoud) Ahmadinejad,” Mouawad added.

“The forces that are assassinating our leaders and assassinating freedom and democracy in Lebanon are the same forces that are seeking to prevent emigrants from voting, because they cannot intimidate emigrants through weapons or pressure and because emigrants are not in need for jobs and help from anyone, that's why your participation is the guarantee for freedom and independence in Lebanon,” Mouawad went on to say, addressing the Lebanese expatriates.

This is very important and very true. The Iranian killers want to pull Lebanon closer to them. Ever since the Greeks kicked their ass four times in history with smaller forces, the Iranians won't stop until they have a Med. sea base. The Party of Cocaine wants to deliver it to them. The Hezz want everyone to focus on Israel while a bigger evil envelopes Lebanon.

gabby8, when is the next increment due? Will it be before or after the fall of ASSad?

If that is the frame of mind, then i will finally take my fathers advice and register my 4 Australian children as Lebanese so they can one day vote "yes" for this so-called Iranian hegemony.

There are indeed foolish Lebanese in Australia. Listen to this guy is like watching a little kid in a lolly shop. I mean seriously what have these March 14 stooges offered for the well being of the Lebanese. Absolutely NOTHING. The current government hasn't even been in power for 48months and they have achieved reform and change these morons couldn't even achieve since they controlled the country since 1992 or even since 2005. Disgraceful. They care nothing for the country let alone the people. These are business minded people who would sell their daughters to the highest Arab bidder. Don't be fooled Lebanese in Australia!

Because the Lebanese in Lebanon are any better? You want to throw a blanket over the lot of us and label us with one name? We may be business minded but no real man will "sell his daughter to the highest arab bidder" - which is quite ironic seen as through dowry seems to be common in alot of arab\asian countries. What has M8 done? not exploit the oil wealth of Lebanon for one. You guys are in power yet still no progress on something that will make the entire country prosper. Electricity is still crap, political assassinations are still taking place so why would I vote M8 after all the "change and reform" promises? We aren't stupid ...

@phoenix, is that the same lebanon that bashir was trying to obtain by murdering fellow christian leaders or was it the same lebanon that the lf was fighting against the palestinians but know are aligned with ... why do you guys hide behind your fingers and mumble on about syria , was it not syria that got helped fire at babdaa against aoun with the lf was it not the same syria that bashirs brother amin went to to get his presidency extended i wish for them to do a political program that shows the archives of m14 and see what you have to say secondally as a lebanese citizen who now lives abroad i would rather vote for a memeber for me who is going to work for the expats and not one that is in lebanon , for you are practically changing the geography of the people living in lebanon so if you want to vote for the current member go and live in lebanon and vote and dont force people upon the lebanese in lebanon from the outside

Here's a typical March 14 patriotic speech to their Lebanese brothers and sisters at home and in the diaspora: We (echo: we, we, we, we, we...), March 14, will HIZBULLAH be doing pretty SYRIA much everything in our IRAN powers to make sure we all HIZBULLAH move the country SYRIA to a place IRAN where you can HIZBULLAH all be learning to use the SYRIA best possible means IRAN to see what every one HIZBULLAH of you probably should SYRIA know in order IRAN to be able to speak and laugh and play and dance and... March 14, HIZBULLAH you should SYRIA get by now IRAN the idea, I suppose. Keep up the good work and the drive to attract more clueless supporters in the diaspora for the hopeless hopefuls her at home, my compatriots.
