March 14's Michel Khoury Elected Head of Tripoli Bar Association

The March 14-backed list on Sunday won the by-election of the Tripoli Bar Association which was held to fill two vacant posts, one of them the head of the association, state-run National News Agency reported.

March 14 candidate Michel Khoury was elected as the new president of the bar association, while his comrade Saadi Qalawoun was elected as a member, NNA said.

The victorious list received 200 more votes than the list backed by the March 8 forces and comprised of Butros Faddoul for president and Abdul Aziz Arab for the membership of the council.

Khoury will replace Bassam al-Dayeh whose mandate has expired.

Why do politics have to enter everything. These are professional associations. Why can't they be totally un-political? Same with student associations. Why are encouraging students to take political sides at such an early age?
