Assi Hellani Appointed U.N. Goodwill Ambassador
Lebanese singer Assi Helani has been appointed a Goodwill Ambassador in an incentive organized by the United Nations Development Program, reports said Monday.
The UNDP announced the new initiative called “Live Lebanon”, in conjunction with the Bank of Beirut and the Arab countries in a press conference Monday at the Movenpick Hotel, Beirut, reports added.
Assi is hoping to provide support to enhance the living conditions of local communities in Lebanon and to raise awareness about the most pressing needs in disadvantaged communities.
He will join efforts with goodwill ambassadors around the world to help bring a better, younger greener, healthier and more productive Lebanon, reports said.
The U.N. chooses prominent personalities from the worlds of art, music, film, sport and literature to highlight key issues and to draw attention to its activities.
Over the years, many Olympians, World Champions, elite athletes and sports personalities have lent their name and time to support the U.N. family. Their mass appeal especially helps in motivating people to act in the interest of improving their own lives and those of their fellow citizens.
