Syrian Ambassador: What Harms Lebanon Harms Syria, Lebanese Govt. Free in Taking Decisions

Syrian Ambassador Ali Abdul Karim Ali commented on Monday on PM Najib Miqati's visit to France, saying that “the Lebanese cabinet is the one to decide what to do and what not to do”.

“What matters most to us is preserving Lebanese-Syrian ties and maintaining security on our border,” Ali added after meeting Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour.

“Stability in both Lebanon and Syria is interconnected,” Ali stressed, explaining that his country's security would reflect positively on the neighboring state.

Miqati left for Paris on Sunday on an official visit during which he will be meeting with French President Francois Hollande. Miqati's visit comes after France, Turkey and Gulf states officially recognized the Syrian opposition bloc.

Ambassador Ali also tackled the Israeli attacks on Gaza, saying that “the enemy's operations will not exclude any nation trying to disassociate itself from them”.

“This cruel and violent assault targets Lebanon, Syria, Egypt and the Gulf states alike,” he explained.

“We support any moral and financial support to Gaza and all occupied Palestinian territories,” Ali said on the delegation of Arab ministers that will visit Gaza on Tuesday, adding that “opening the crossings in front of Palestinians will best protect them from the Israeli aggressions”.

The Arab League announced on Sunday that General Secretary Nabil al-Arabi will head a delegation of Arab ministers to Gaza on Tuesday to offer solidarity to the Palestinian people. FM Mansour will be representing Lebanon in this delegation.

Israeli attacks on Gaza that were launched last Wednesday have killed around 100 Palestinians so far and injured many others.

What does he have to say about Samaha? Plus what is the purpose of this ambassador? Just to draw salary, if he was any good Assad would have hired him instead of Samaha.

I have to say for the first time ever I agree with the ambassador. All the murders they committed in Lebanon with the Hezz are harming the Baath gov't of Syria and it is falling. They lost base 46 near Aleppo and a helicopter base in the east on the same day. the FSA scored big on weapons on that day. That territory will not go back to the regime. they are finished. I commend you Mr.Ambassador for getting it right.

what he meant was: what harms syria, must harm Lebanon. Arabs, in general, can not stand seeing Lebanon advance! We always have to be an open and welcoming playground for all regional conflicts, including if any sheikh had a constipation, or a bad meal, Lebanon has to always pay the price! Certainly Always!

How is this guy still welcome in Lebanon?

Thumb arzak-ya-libnan 20 November 2012, 07:24

guys give him the benefit of the doubt and agree with what he is saying.. what hurts the Lebanese hurts the Syrians... THIS regime is what THAT is.. they slaughtered us, robbed us, detained and tortured us.. and now they are doing the same to their own people.. so yeah.. technically he is right.. WHAT hurt the Lebanese IS hurting the Syrians as well..
