Change and Reform bloc MP Alain Aoun confirmed on Sunday that he would participate in the meeting of an electoral parliamentary subcommittee the next day.

“Hadn't I withdrawn from the meetings, the minutes wouldn't have been finalized,” he said.

Aoun walked out of the discussions on Thursday over what he said was the rejection of the opposition March 14 lawmakers to finalize the minutes of the last meeting.

The 10-member subcommittee finalized on Friday the discussion on a new electoral law to govern this year's parliamentary elections.

But it will meet on Monday in an attempt to find common ground among the different political parties.

The subcommittee's chairman MP Robert Ghanem said lawmakers haven't yet reached consensus on any proposal but they discussed the prospects of increasing the number of lawmakers which currently stands at 128.
