Huge Fire Erupts at Grocery and Liquor Store in Jadra
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةA huge fire broke out on Thursday at a grocery and liquor store in the southern town of Jadra, reported the National News Agency.
It said that despite the efforts of the Civil Defense teams, the contents of the entire store were damaged by the fire, whose causes remain unknown.
Nearby buildings were threatened by the flames, including a house whose residents had to be evacuated after the fire reached one of its rooms.
Heavy black smoke engulfed the area as the store owners Khaled and Malek Haidar ruled out the possibility that the fire was deliberate.
Jadra Municipal head Father Joseph Qazzi told NNA: “Fires have frequently broken out in the area in various houses, factories, and stores.”
“We hope that the Civil Defense teams would be supplied with the necessary equipment to enable it to douse these frequent fires,” he added.
Moreover, he stressed that there were no political reasons for today's incident, urging all sides against jumping to conclusions in the matter and await the results of the investigations.
On January 10, an explosion targeted a liquor store in the southern town of Sarafand, causing only material damage.
In November, twin bomb blasts targeted a hotel and a liquor store in the southern city of Tyre, causing extensive damage but no casualties.
Another two liquor shops were targeted in southern villages in July and others have been forced to shut down.
