Security Sources Advise Hariri Not to Return to Lebanon, Expect Syria Crisis to Spill Over to Country

Obstacles are blocking attempts by former Prime Minister Saad Hariri to return to Lebanon, media reports said on Saturday, as the situation in the neighboring country Syria is expected to have a “strong” impact on Lebanon which may prompt the postponement of the upcoming parliamentary elections.

“Hariri is receiving advises from local, regional and international security agencies not to return to Lebanon,” al-Joumhouria newspaper reported.

The newspaper considered his statements during the commemoration of the eighth anniversary of the assassination of his father, former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, were based on “emotions.”

“I assure you today that I'll be by your side in the next electoral battle, whatever the law, the challenges and the risks, on the basis of a national political project that refuses to compromise on the state,” Hariri told his supporters.

Hariri, who currently lives in Saudi Arabia, has been living abroad for nearly two years for security reasons.

However, a high-ranking source told al-Joumhouria newspaper that the recent developments indicate that the polls will not be held on time.

The source expected that a “dramatic” development will take place in Syria during the upcoming two months which will have a great impact on Lebanon.

The international community and analysts have continuously expressed fears that the conflict in Syria may spill over into Lebanon.

Lebanon has recently witnessed several security violations after a sharp rift between the March 14 and 8 alliances over the revolt in Syria which began in March 2011.

he shouldn't come. His life would be in danger if he did. We want him to remain safe until the crisis in Syria settles. Soon the Sunnis of Lebanon would be free and will join the Christians in forming a givernment that will take Lebanon to preponderance.

Ex PM Hariri should return to Lebanon and show the Hezbollah assassins that he's courageous. Should anything happen to him, it'll be civil war 200%.

You may not care about him but many other do. Beyond that, if he get killed than it will be most likely a civil war. He will become a symbol, the father than the son.

You should be sorry that this is going on: a political leader that lives in exile because there is an attempt onto his life. This is not a joke. Many leaders have so far been killed.

Ya greatpierro ya habibe, he is a political leader NOT. he inherited his position from his dad, like the rest of the other leaders, its a bloody business + lots of money! when did you see a leader provide something for his community, none, never, they keep stealing, all of them. We have gullible 7 shallow minded fools in this country.

Does anyone care? This guy is old news. He is an expatriate who takes money from foreign governments to interfere in Lebanese politics from outside the country. Now he need an excuse to stay away? Why? What changed? He cannot govern if he cannot reside in the county. So why should he keep shooting his mouth off.He failed miserably as Prime Minister

it is not because you venerate nasrallah that everyone has to venerate someone... typical binary mind...
i do not care about hariri or his wealth or his parading. seems you do more than me!

and i repeat nasrallah does not have a cause , he has an agenda which is totally different...

"he got it from daddy who stole most of it from the Lebanese public accounts"

that is in the M8 propaganda... one man and only one man stole a whole country! waw! you are not afraid of being ridiculous...

how come M8 never assigned him to justice for all these stealings? how come aoun the champion of audits never carried out a single one? how come he pretends to have lists of names but not a single one handed to the justice?
you know why? coz it would mean telling also that M8 stole the country and the majority of the public accounts went in syria...

Harriri does not need to come to Lebanon unless he wishes to die. Lebanon will not rest until the Syrian situation is settled.
