Hizbullah Official Says Resignation Was a 'Misstep': Those Who Resigned Will No Longer Be Assigned

Hizbullah's Bekaa chief Mohammed Yaghi considered on Sunday that Prime Minister Najib Miqati's resignation was a “misstep”, revealing that “he will no longer be nominated to head a cabinet”.

"Those who have submitted their resignation will not be nominated to head the future cabinet because we want to protect Lebanon in these tough times,” Yaghi said at an event celebrating Mother's Day in the Bekaa town of Shmestar

"We did not force them to form a cabinet before.”

"Miqati's resignation came at a time when Lebanon is facing a huge challenge,” he expressed, saying that the step was made “in a hurry and entails many considerations behind it.”

He stated: “This is not how states are protected and statesmen should safeguard people's fates.”

"He (Miqati) shouldn't have justified the resignation through citing disagreements over assigning a public employee or the formation of an electoral committee.”

Yaghi added: “We are looking towards nominating a new premier and forming a national unity cabinet that would work through and fix the crises.”

Miqati announced the resignation of his government on Friday, citing divisions on several domestic issues, and called for the formation of a national unity government.

The resignation came after the cabinet's session failed to approve the decisions to form of an authority to oversee the parliamentary elections and extend the term of Internal Security Forces chief Ashraf Rifi.

arrogance to the extreme which is going to cost Lebanon its existence.

Thumb lebnanfirst 25 March 2013, 00:27

Notice how now they want to forma "national unity cabinet...". We knew and now they know that HA and M8 are unable to rule the Lebanese by themselves. What is still not clear is if they have really internalized that lesson or remain committed to playing their silly shell game.

Thumb geha 25 March 2013, 08:47

you are highly dillusional: no way for any m8 cabinet from now on.

the paid mouthpiece of Qom and Hizb of devil is back from his southern weekend hiatus. He is back to lecture us as usual on what's hapennin' coz he is in the KNOW.... What a sectarian loser!

@mowaten
Who are you trying to kid? They refused that M14 retain the "guaranteeing third" whic they insisted upon when they were the minority.
Believe what you want but when you choose to recall history as proof at least have the decency of recalling it correctly.

Thumb lebnanfirst 25 March 2013, 12:26

@mowaten
Come to think of it, that the government of HA and M8 fell of its own weight without having an M14 "guaranteeing third" speaks volume about the innate inability of HA to conduct democratic institutions. HA was never democratic and never will be.

Thumb lebnanfirst 25 March 2013, 12:30

@mowaten
"they'll form an m8 cabinet which they are perfectly capable of doing" don't count on it as HA is not likely to be able to squeeze Jumblat like they did 2 years ago. Those black shirts are busy fighting and dying for Assad. Ma...

This guy and his family were exposed in a TV program lately where they smuggle archeological artifacts from Lebanon (particularly Baalbeck) to sell to collectors abroad. The TV program was more interested by the fact that the money was going to Hezbollah's agents pockets than by the theft of what is Lebanese national treasure that should be in national meseums.

Mikati thought that he would seem as indispensable. Now he will be on the outside looking in. You can't reward treachery.

Miqati's accomplishment was making Lebanon safe for war profiteering ... More importantly this allows real leadership to move forward.

Iran blew this government because they want hizbustan to have a free hand in Syria from now on i.e no more objections with regards to regime shells falling in lebanon, airriads, hizbustan terrorist activities against the Syrian people etc. This is not good news at all, and all what this arrogant thug is saying is just a diversion tactic. The period of violence/chaos has officialy begun. Hizbustan has entered the era of becoming the PLO of the 80's and will bring death and destruction to lebanon.
