Rifi Hands Over ISF Leadership to Salem, Says Leaving Post with 'Clear Conscience'
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةInternal Security Forces chief Maj. Gen. Ashraf Rifi handed over on Saturday the ISF leadership to Brig. Gen. Roger Salem, remarking that he was leaving his post with a "clear conscience."
The handing over of the post “comes as part of the law,” Rifi said at the graduation ceremony of expert officers held at the ISF general-directorate in Ashrafiyeh.
“My conscience is clear,” Rifi said seven days after Prime Minister Najib Miqati resigned over the rejection of the Hizbullah-led March 8 majority alliance to extend his tenure.
Rifi will turn 59 – the ISF’s maximum working age – on April 1. Salem will serve as acting head of the ISF until a new director-general is appointed.
Al-Mustaqbal bloc has proposed a draft-law that allows both Rifi and Army chief Gen. Jean Qahwaji to stay in their posts until they reach respectively the age of 62 and 63.
Rifi cited several of the achievements made by the ISF after he took charge of the department in 2005.
“Only justice leads to a stable society,” he said, adding “we are proud of our achievements.”
Rifi hailed ISF Intelligence Bureau chief Wissam al-Hasan and Wissam Eid, a top communications analyst with the bureau, both killed in the series of assassinations and murder attempts that targeted politicians and security and media figures in the aftermath of ex-Premier Rafik Hariri's Feb. 2005 murder.
Rifi thanked all ISF officers and saluted the Lebanese army and the rest of the security agencies.
Enjoy your retirement general, thank-you very much for everything you've done in the interest of Lebanon and its people. God bless you.
Now the Hezballah can assassinate as they please, karim is happy cause the people who caught samaha and the hezballah terrorist mehdi scum are either dead or have retired.
Yeah Ok SNAKE, maybe you should take a shot at the deceptive people who are happy to see the downfall of lebanon , it is evident through their agenda laden posts.
I encourage more people to speak up, let them call us what they like, i have already been called an Israelite, jumblatddon, you have now been labeled a troll, but we should be happy they are calling us these names, cause it means they know that we understand their game

“My conscience is clear,” Rifi said ...
Why even mention his conscience? Sounds to me like his conscience isn't clear at all ...
Well said tony, Mckinl tries to come across as a neutral voice but i promise he is nothing but a drity hezbo thug
Thank you General Rifi for services rendered. God bless the souls of Wissam Eid and Wissam el Hassan who gave their life to the country. And who proved without shadow of a doubt that the number 1 PROBLEM of Lebanon is not Hezbollah, not Israel, not sectarian problems, but ASSAD, the stalinist criminal, source of all evil and conflict.
It was his corruption, filth, and treachery that saved Lebanon from being 100% absorbed by the evil axis of Iran, Assad, and Hezb. We need more of him and less of your resistance.
If that was the case F.T., then why was Baroud (whom I admire a lot) not included in the M8 Government?
Ft you know very well that Rifi was defending the integrity of the data collected and did not want it to be destroyed. An agreement was reached to safeguard the data and Rifi did then accept to hand in the floor in question.

May their souls rest in peace. They are martyrs of Lebanon, genuine ones... unlike the iranian ones that don't value life.
