Berri Rejects Formation of Technocrat Cabinet

Speaker Nabih Berri totally rejected on Thursday the formation of a technocrat government, stressing that the Taef accord states that this kind of cabinets is no longer applicable.

“Are there any technocrat or impartial people in the country?” Berri wondered in comments published in As Safir newspaper.

He called on politicians to discuss the possibility of forming a “political government” that includes all parties.

The AMAL leader hailed Prime Minister-designate Tammam Salam's rejection to hand over portfolios to any candidate that will run for the parliamentary elections, because Salam will not submit his candidacy.

However, Berri added that Salam has “no right to set a condition to appoint those who are not politicians.”

Berri and his March 8 allies are calling for a national unity cabinet. But the March 14 coalition wants a government whose members are neither political figures nor running in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

On Wednesday, Salam urged leaders to facilitate the formation of his government, reiterating rejection to the monopolization of portfolios by a single sect.

Salam has repeatedly said that his new government will be aimed at staging and overseeing the polls.

The 68-year-old lawmaker and former culture minister is widely seen as a consensus figure but politically leans towards the March 14 alliance.

You fowl player for ever! You ran the show on your own for so many months. When M8 had the upper hand , thanks to the black-shirts and blackmail, the Doha ageement didn't need to apply, the third blocking minority neither, (a pure Hizbo L criminals invention, along with the support of the Rabieh dwarf). Now you will bring out the same arguments all over again. Bear in ming you are all irrelevant, only the militia arms sotckpiles your allies have accumulated are.

To be a politician, you have to be a master of deceit and corruption. Or you will not last one day.

Nabee Berri of Naboo is one of the filthiest politicians in Lebanon's history.... A thief, a murderer, a liar, a corrupt thug.

A technocrat Gobierno would be in the interest of Lebanon, not his own. Especially for two months, it wouldn't kill anyone except weaken the despot.

Are there any technocrat or impartial people in the country. Berri wondered? Sir, not so many in your camp, and, if they come forward, I am sure Iran will have something to say and do about it for Iran's best interest. Don't ask a questions that a proper response is evident.
