Youssef Denies Halting DSL, HDSL Licenses: Requests on Hold over Lack of Modems
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةOGERO Telecom General Manager Abdul Monhem Youssef denied on Friday reports that he had halted granting DSL and HDSL licenses to the Telecommunications Ministry and private companies.
He told the Central News Agency that OGERO is waiting to accept new requests to install DSL internet connection because of a shortage of modems caused by the Telecom Ministry’s decision to stop funding the company.
He revealed that the application requests for DSL connections exceed 3000.
“I have sent caretaker Telecommunications Minister Charbel Nahhas several requests asking him for funds to purchase modems, but we haven’t received a reply,” he added.
“So we are now faced with either accepting this reality or continuing on accepting applications, forcing the clients to wait until modems are provided,” he stated.
Youssef said that this problem affects the ministry and OGERO.
He added however that a request has been made to another source to provide the company with modems that may be delivered in six to eight weeks.

Internet in Lebanon is an absolute joke. I have a company in Canada and was planning to outsource some of its work to Lebanon.... Went there few times recently and the communication/internet was not reliable, slow and seems to be monopolized the way fees are charged.... This article does not make sense at all and it is as I said a joke! I did take my business elsewhere!
This liar and thief , will soon be where he should have been a very long time ago ; JAIL .

Hariri and Rifi defense of this man and his lack of modems. Is modems code for bribe money?
Who cares whose fault it is. Fire all politicians!
With all the political bickering, no wonder Lebanon ranks at the bottom of world in terms of Internet connectivity.
There is also the need to install DSLAM in the central switches offices and this piece of equipment is not as cheap as an end consumer modem
