One of the detained members of Salafist cleric Sheikh Ahmed al-Asir's group was referred on Thursday to the Military Prosecution on charges of smuggling arms to Syria, reported the National News Agency.

Military Examining Magistrate Judge Fadi Sawan referred the suspect on charges of also carrying out terrorist attacks.

The suspect was found to have accompanied al-Asir to his visits to Syria.

He was arrested during the recent clashes in Abra near the southern city of Sidon that took place on June 22 and 23.

An arrest warrant had previously been issued against the suspect.

Later on Thursday, First Military Investigation Judge Riyad Abu Ghida interrogated nine detainees from the Abra clashes, releasing three and issuing arrest warrants against six.

State Commissioner to the Military Court Judge Saqr Saqr had charged last week 27 people, 10 of them in absentia.

Those in custody were interrogated earlier this week by First Military Investigation Judge Riyad Abu Ghida.

Al-Asir and the singer-turned Salafist Fadel Shaker were among the 27 people charged by Saqr.

If convinced, the suspects face the death penalty.

The fighting in Sidon was sparked when al-Asir's supporters opened fire on an army checkpoint, leaving around 18 soldiers and more than 20 gunmen dead.

The gunbattles concentrated in the area of Bilal Bin Rabah Mosque and nearby buildings in Abra.

Al-Asir, a 45-year-old cleric who supports the overwhelmingly Sunni rebels fighting to topple Syrian President Bashar Assad, is no where to be found along with Shaker.

Yeah RFT; I guess it is cool to still have Shabaa Farms occupied by Israel and to go occupy Syrian Land, it is very cool:)

If CONVICTED, not convinced. Sad to see mistakes like this on a Lebanese news site.

Almost as ugly of a video as the one of HA warriors slashing their 4 prisoners with knives for about 10 minutes then finished them off with stabs to the skulls.
This is why I say
HA go to Iran
Asir, Salafists, Takfiris go to KSA

Thumb _mowaten_ 12 July 2013, 08:50

almost as ugly, the only difference being that one is real and i showed you a video to prove it, while the other is pure baseless propaganda. your propaganda is cheap, your mentality is cheap, you're cheap helicopter.

hopefully they'll soon issue a resolution asking HA to withdraw from Palestine :)

Thumb just-me 11 July 2013, 21:27

ask HA or Lebanon?

Missing helicopter 12 July 2013, 03:09

just-me,
what is with the rhetoric questions? mowaten was very clear and straight forward.

I don't know which country your are a _mowaten_ of.... but your bragging is unfounded, and any future adventure or confrontation with Israel will render you and your terrorist mercenary farsi hizb useless. Only this time, you will not find sympathy within lebanon for your actions.

Thumb _mowaten_ 12 July 2013, 08:53

unlike you i know what country you're from, mr "for sale". the fact that this offended you makes it very clear.

just-me: who do you think?

Wake up RFT, your cool thoughts are off track, listen to mowaten's version he got it right.
Any UN resolution will not be calling for "Lebanon" to withdraw, but rather HA (which is basically Iran).
Sorry to mess it up for you buddy, but your temporary euphoria was misplaced. Thanks mowaten for the correction.

يقول السيد ابراهيم الأمين (قيادي في الحزب) في جريدة "النهار" بتاريخ 5/3/2013: "نحن لا نقول اننا جزء من ايران، نحن ايران في لبنان، ولبنان في ايران"

I do not think Bashir would have let the killing of Samer Hanna go unpunished. Or for HA to exist.
But you have my vote for half of the equation you mentioned.

Thumb _mowaten_ 12 July 2013, 08:58

Day in day out you guys talk of Samer Hanna, a case which is 5 years old and was judged and closed long ago. The only possible reason for this is that you're paid to make cheap propaganda against Hezbollah, overusing each opportunity you get to do so.

Do you even know the name of the officers who were butchered in Arsal? The names of the soldiers that Assir cowardly killed? The names of the soldiers who died in the border clash of 2010? Don't you come and tell us you care about our soldiers, you're a fake who only cares about hating on HA.
