Internal Security Drug Control Force Ambushed in Baalbeck

Unknown assailants opened fire on Monday at policemen from the Drug Control Office of the Internal Security Forces as it was preparing to destroy cannabis fields in al-Olaiq village in the eastern city of Baalbeck.
The National News Agency reported that the “force and the tractors that accompanied it came under an armed ambush after unknown assailants opened fire at it.”
The assailants also launched rocket grenades in the air.
NNA said that the vehicle of a journalist accompanying the patrol was damaged after it was hit by 3 gunshots. Another civilian car was also damaged.
Director of the Drug Control bureau Colonel Adel Mashmoushi confirmed that the “cannabis destruction operation will continue” and assailants “will be brought to justice.”
Voice of Lebanon radio station said that the destruction of the fields continued after calm returned to the area.

Bravo, ISF! Keep attacking pseudo-problems that cause harm to no one, such as soft drugs, and keep turning a blind eye to the very real ones, such as heavy weapons in the arms of thugs who use them to terrorize a population, not just to defend their territory (like in this case). We can't even rightfully call you "medieval minded", because in the middle ages and up until the U.N. charter banning ALL drugs passed, for centuries hashish has been a legitimate part of Lebanese culture and no one was the worse for it. Keep going at it ISF! Maybe if you manage to burn ALL the local production fields, you can finally turn the country into an importer of hashish and help multiply the drug-smuggling cartels that are just waiting for a piece of that business. And if by chance you do manage to keep all the drugs out of the country (highly, highly unlikely), then just watch how all of Dahieh and Ain Roumanneh get up in arms and then we can have us a really jolly civil war.

Why don't these losers do things that actually matter, like fixing the electricity problem, or removing illegal weapons off the streets?! But nooooo, it is the evil hash that MUST be tackled!!! Hopefully the mafia will exterminate these ISF fools and teach them a lesson or two!!!

i could say im pretty surprised.
i agree with Rodin. Hash is not a bad drug, cannabis is one of the best plants we have on earth. it could be used for medicine, clothes, cream, and many many more. The thing is after the americans announced the war on drugs it was strictly against cannabis as it competes with the cotton industry, and makes users know of the truth of what is surrounding us.
If lebanon made this an import, we could be a rich economical country and get our status back like it was before the civil war. thats what americans dont want for us, or israel, or syria or saudi arabia or iran or anyone else in this world but us the lebanese people.

Everyone knows who controls the hashish in Lebanon. I'm sure the new government will handicap the ISF when it gets the chance to.
