Jumblat Says Israel behind Dahieh Blast

Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblat accused Israel of being behind Thursday's blast that rocked Beirut's southern suburb.

"I accuse Israel of being behind the explosion in Dahieh,” Jumblat told LBCI television shortly after the blast, calling on the state's bodies to “consolidate and intensify their work.”

Later on Thursday, Jumblat explained to MTV that Israel is the only “beneficiary of what is taking place,” noting that the Free Syrian Army had denied its involvement in the previous attack on Dahieh.

On July 9, a booby-trapped car exploded at a parking lot in Bir al-Abed, leaving 53 people wounded and causing extensive material damage.

Jumblat remarked: “We must gradually learn to accept Hizbullah's possession of weapons until the decision in this matter is taken by the party.”

The Druze leader said that “no group in Lebanon can exclude the participation of another in the new cabinet.”

"We should get out of the current deadlock and solve our problems by forming a council of ministers that aims at securing the national interest.”

At least 14 people were killed and 212 others wounded in a car bombing that rocked Hizbullah's stronghold in Beirut's southern suburbs on Thursday afternoon.

The blast went off on the public road between Bir al-Abed and Ruwais, according to several television channels.

A group calling itself the Brigades of Aisha Umm al-Moemeneen has claimed the Dahieh blast in a YouTube video.

The question is : whats the purpose of making up such a huge lie?

Thumb benzona 15 August 2013, 21:43

And I wonder what Taymour has to say about the terrorist attack.

Long live nepotism, cronyism, cooptation, corruption.... In Lebanon. They should consider doing what European monarchs have been doing since the past 30'years which is Renewing their bloodlines....

Thumb _mowaten_ 15 August 2013, 22:03

"everyone knows who is behind it" umm i'm always very skeptical of these situations where everyone assumes they know but they in fact dont know anything.
when there such an "ideal suspect" situation, it's the perfect opportunity for a third party to sneak a sucker punch in without being suspected.

Thumb _mowaten_ 15 August 2013, 22:04

could be vengeance for the unit of commandos that was hit by HA while they were trying to infiltrate lebanon.

Missing VINCENT 16 August 2013, 09:38

To perpetuate the fabricated need of the alleged "resistance"? If we are to play this game, we can also come up with a "far fetched" analysis. OK, this is a twisted ploy by Iran and H.A. to self inflict injury, blame Israel and hope to give the resistance legitimacy and keep it alive.

Thumb _mowaten_ 16 August 2013, 10:44

and the problem with people like you is they take everything at face value (unless it's from the other side, then they start imagining the craziest scenarios thta dont even make sense)

Thumb benzona 15 August 2013, 20:51

But he knows it won't have an effect on most of us. We won't cheer nor will we pity them.

The fact is we're indifferent to their fate.... It all started on a valentine's day of 2005.....

Its tragic but whether its Israel or not, Hizballah managed to creat enemies inside and outside Lebanon and, sadly enough, thats only the beginning. In the process, Hizballah is also managing to disintegrate Lebanon.

Thumb proudlebanon 15 August 2013, 21:08

Jumby is trying to do something good here, but at this point no one is buying this any more. Hezbo brought a fitna to our front door due to their servitude to the regimes in Iran and Syria.

Thumb _mowaten_ 15 August 2013, 21:36

the fitna knocked at our door when takfiri murderers came from all over the world to kill shia and alawites, and attacked hermel with rockets and committed massacres in border villages.
stop pretending it all started when HA responded, after over 2 years of patience, to these attacks.

Thumb Bandoul 15 August 2013, 21:22

@Joumblat, didn't the news report that there was a body of a suicide bomber near the blast center? When did the Israelis start employing suicide bombers? Why are you insulting our intelligence sir? I am sure you only speak like this when you're up to your normal trickery, but why?

Thumb _mowaten_ 15 August 2013, 21:38

in the first minutes after the blast they mentioned that a body found near the site of the explosion "could be" the one of a suicide bomber. but that's in no way confirmed. as the dust settles it seems the explosion was caused by a booby trapped car. anyone could have driven it there and parked it.

Thumb Bandoul 15 August 2013, 21:50

You are right, "anyone could have driven it there and parked it" the operative word here being "Anyone"...of course the HA security apparatus has cordoned the area off and we will never know the real "Who"...however it is reasonable in my humble opinion not to deduce from your previous comment that Mossad was behind it.

Thumb _mowaten_ 15 August 2013, 21:59

well seeing how efficient rifi was throughout 27 assassinations (0 case solved) we can't blame them for trying to actually catch the bad guys.

Exactly flamethrower. As if they would use their own hallmarks if they didnt want the world to know it was them. Is it a coincidence that this comes at the anniversary of the july war and after 4 israeli soldiers were injured when entering lebanon ilegally? I dont buy that. Everytime its a unknown group and brigade its always someone using that facade as a decoy, something israel is an expert in. And as if there arent certain elements within alqaida inspired terrorist groups that are sponsored by various intel agencies and among them the chief of terrorism mossad. Those who joke away the very high possibility that israel did this are fools and nothing but fools.

Thumb _mowaten_ 15 August 2013, 21:27

gabby you obtuse sectarian hater, the people who were killed and wounded were regular citizens, only guilty of having been at the wrong place at the wrong moment.
yaret those cowards (whether israelis or takfiris) grew a pair and actually attacked HA face to face, instead of sneakily killing poor helpless innocents

Thumb benzona 15 August 2013, 21:48

Keep in mind Momo of Isfahan that they are RETALATIONS.... Hezb is the one invading Syria or the one abducting Israeli soldiers (2006).....outside Lebanon. It's also Hezbollah blowing up buses in Bulgaria, blowing up non Israeli Jews in argentina....

What pisses you off is that we dislike al Qaida, israel as much as Hezbollah but we refuse to resort to terror tactics to stop them.... And this line has been crossed since the creation of the party of God...

And if you caution an eye for an eye, then at least 10.000 hezbi terrorists are to die in Beirut in retaliation of the 10.000 Syrian lives they took.

Thumb _mowaten_ 15 August 2013, 21:57

no, retaliation would be if they fought HA men. this is plain sectarian-based blind killing, no matter how had you try to justify it.

ps: and no it's not retaliation, it's continuation. it did not start when started giving a damn (when HA fought back in quseyr) it started when takfiris and mercenaries came from all over the world to kill alawites and shias "in the levant", started kidnapping pilgrims, attacking shia villages on the border, firing rockets on the hermel... oh how easily you forget those two years of aggressions before HA responded.
why werent you saying then that the takfiris had it coming and it was a retaliation? at least there it was really retaliation, because went after the fighters, not random sunnis. see the difference or the hate in your head pressures the brain so much you can't see straight anymore?

Thumb benzona 15 August 2013, 22:12

Ya Momo the khafif (ultralight)

Did, or didn't the government ordered Hezbollah to defend the border? Or to strike free Syrians in Syria! Is your terrorist militia preventing the daily syrian helicopter attacks on Lebanese soil? The fact is here.... Hezbollah is here to kill non Shias, to give Iran a base in the Mediterranean. The kids they were mutilating in Syria (and enjoying it) before desecrating their corpses weren't fighters. You can try justifying their terror as much as you like, you won't convince anyone in his right mind. The pilgrims you mention we're no pilgrims and you know it.... And who's got them? Arab takfiris or Free Syrian Rebels?
Hezbollah shot itself in the foot and it bothers you.... My condolences.

Thumb _mowaten_ 16 August 2013, 10:48

benzona, the very fact that you constantly have to find me new names to try to cover for the weakness of your arguments is self-revealing.

about mutilated kids you're plainly fantasizing, check the qusayr stats, about 3500 fighters were taken out and practically no civilians died. the 47 dead civilians can't even be attributed to them, since the takfiris were using them as human shield and hostages, and prevented a number of them of evacuating the town

Hizballah is harvesting what they planted. It's unfortunate to see innocent people getting killed for irans interest. Hizballah must withdraw its militia from Syria before turning Lebanon into another Iraq

Maybe, Mr. Jumblat. At the very least, this path will minimise internal strife. However, your beliefs are not based on fact. They are based on hunches. You and some of your parliamentary colleagues are quick to blame different parties but this type of rhetoric is not nation building.

Even though some of us might despise HA, we need to work with the people of Dahieh to repair infrastructure damage and heal physical and emotional wounds. After all, it was our countrymen who where killed or injured. If we are not there for them, who will be there for us? We deserve better from ourselves and our fellow countrymen.

Thumb kanaanljdid 16 August 2013, 10:42

Those who did this are Japanese. Japanese tourists got sick eating a falafel in Da7ieh, they did this to retaliate.

If you don't believe that, you are a fool.

The best way fro the politicians to defuse a wrong doing is by attaching it to Israel because there is no one to hold Israel accountable. Jumblat is doing so despite knowing that Israel has no hand in this. the blast has been a result of this propaganda of hate that is sweeping all the Arab world. We as Lebanese should strengthen our internal cohesion so that no one could penetrate our country and destroy it. Isn't it time for all parties to have learned a valuable lesson from the 15 years of civil war in Lebanon. If not, then there's no hope for survival. We all will kill each other while Israel see us and laugh its heart out. knowingly or unknowingly we are fulfilling the Israeli dream which will allow it to dominate us with the help of the USA. Wake up lebanese and act now.
