The head of the Delegation of the European Union to Lebanon, Angelina Eichhorst stressed on Tuesday the need for the new government to cooperate with the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, noting that Prime Minister Najib Miqati had informed her that he will cooperate with it.

It’s important for Lebanon to maintain its cooperation with the international court without any obstacles, she stated during a press conference.

She added that the EU encourages the cabinet to fully cooperate with the tribunal, pointing out that the collaboration is not linked with the funding the European organization will provide the STL.

The European Union is monitoring the developments in Lebanon and it will eventually determine how to deal with the government over central issues, Eichhorst said.

Does she believe that the confessional system in Lebanon which denies power to the majority is a legitimate democratic government? If she replies that the arrangement is the one freely chosen by the Lebanese, ask her if people, in her understanding, would voluntarily give up "one person, one vote".
And is it her understanding that the Lebanese minority which receives more than "one vote per person" is the bloc closely tied to Europe and the so-called "international community"? Does this seem a stable arrangement?
