Berri Defends Hizbullah as 'Being Charitable to Others' and not Other Way Around

Speaker Nabih Berri slammed on Thursday claims that the March 14 alliance was being charitable to Hizbullah by approving to remove its veto on the party's participation in the new cabinet.

In remarks to several local newspapers, Berri said: “No one gives charity to Hizbullah. On the contrary Hizbullah is being charitable to others.”

Berri, whose Amal movement is closely allied with Hizbullah, reiterated that the new cabinet would not exclude any party.

“There would not be a government without Hizbullah, without al-Mustaqbal movement or Mr. Walid Jumblat or any other party,” he said.

His remarks came against the backdrop of reports that March 14 and mainly al-Mustaqbal movement had agreed to drop their rejection on Hizbullah's participation in return for the formation of a 24-member cabinet in which the county's three main political camps – March 8, March 14 and centrists - would get eight ministers each.

March 14 had urged Premier-designate Tammam Salam not to give Hizbullah seats in the government over its participation in the fighting alongside President Bashar Assad's troops in Syria.

But later reports emerged that the alliance dropped its veto.

Asked about the progress in the cabinet formation process, Berri reiterated that no further steps have been made.

He reiterated that his call for a national dialogue to discuss the shape and policy statement of the government did not include negotiations on the line-up, which is up to President Michel Suleiman and Salam to decide.

Berri has called for the resumption of the all-party talks under Suleiman at Baabda palace for a period of at least five consecutive days to discuss the form and policy statement of the cabinet.

His so-called roadmap also includes the revival of talks on a new electoral law and supporting the military to deal with arms proliferated in the North and East.

Furthermore, the initiative calls for addressing a national defense strategy.

“No one gives charity to Hizbullah. On the contrary Hizbullah is being charitable to others.”

the only way hizb iran is charitable is by 'donating' a bullet to get rid of an enemy. and Berri, please step down. you have become desperate to become relevant and it is becoming pathetic.

why is it baseless--hizb iran is indicted in several assassination attempts and refuses hand over the suspects because of some unproven zionist conspiracy. if they are innocent, then why don't they prove it?

the 'blackshirts' somehow convincing Jumblatt to change sides

and oh yeah, May 2008.

Flame here's to refresh your memory:

On 17 March 1992, at 2:42 pm, a pickup truck driven by a suicide bomber and loaded with explosives smashed into the front of the Israeli Embassy located on the corner of Arroyo and Suipacha, and detonated. The embassy, a Catholic church, and a nearby school building were destroyed. Four Israelis died, but most of the victims were Argentine civilians, many of them children.[2] The blast killed 29 and wounded 242. It was Argentina's deadliest terror attack until the AMIA Bombing of 1994. A group called Islamic Jihad Organization, which has been linked to Iran and Hezbollah claimed responsibility; their stated motive for the attack was Israel's assassination of Hezbollah Secretary General Sayed Abbas al-Musawi in February 1992.

The AMIA bombing was an attack on the Asociacion Mutual Israelita Argentina (AMIA; Argentine Israelite Mutual Association) building. It occurred in Buenos Aires on July 18, 1994, killing 85 people and injuring hundreds. On October 25, 2006, Argentine prosecutors Alberto Nisman and Marcelo Martínez Burgos formally accused the government of Iran of directing the bombing, and the Hezbollah militia of carrying it out.

This modus operandi is very similar to the one used by Hezbollah to blow up our ex prime minister and 21 civilians.

wow benzo, two decades-old cases in which there was -at best- "suspicion" of hezbollah links, is that the best you found?

and about the MO i seriously hope you were joking, as if car bomb was a very specific technique.
if you're going to play inspector clouseau here, at least know your classics http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Israeli_assassinations

hizb iran is not only a militia, but a mercenary group paid for and controlled by IRAN. it may have started out as a resistance movement, but they have changed.

Underhanded actions are taking place to set up Hezbollah as a 'bad guy'. Israel has spying operations in Lebanon and for what reason?? It's probably Israel's intention to set up Lebanese against their own brothers Hezbollah - and their plan is working. Israel wants to weaken Hezbollah and probably all of Lebanon to take over, just as they tried beforehand. The U.S. government is controlled behind the scenes by zionists in particular the Rothchilds - look at what they've inflicted on to the American population.

Are you calling hizb iran a good guy after May 2008? and the only reason they are not is due to some unproven conspiracy? Come on dude--you have proof, present it, otherwise it is as believable as Jack and the Beanstalk.
