Qabbani in Phone Call with Al-Rahi Says Politicians Worsening Situation in Lebanon

Grand Mufti Sheikh Mohamed Rashid Qabbani received on Wednesday a phone call from Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi, congratulating him on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.

"Al-Rahi congratulated Qabbani and Muslims in general on the occasion of al-Adha,” the state-run National News Agency said.

Qabbani hoped during the phone conversation that future holidays would be “better," lamenting the deteriorating situation in Lebanon.

"The situation is getting worse because of politicians that ignore the meaning of respect and instead strive to eliminate one another.”

The Mufti also received phone calls from deputy head of the Higher Shiite Islamic Council Sheikh Abdul Amir Qabalan, Druze spiritual leader Sheikh Naim Hassan and Army chief General Jean Qahwaji.

Meanwhile, the NNA reported that Patriarch al-Rahi and in addition to his phone call with Qabbani, he contacted Qabalan, Hassan, head of the Alawite sect Sheikh Assad al-Assi, Mufti of Tripoli and the North Sheikh Malek al-Shaar and Grand Jaafarite Shiite Mufti Sheikh Ahmed Qabalan, also to felicitate them on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.

Al-Rahi stressed during his phone calls on religious authorities' role of “spreading religious, moral and human values that are agreed on by all Lebanese.”
