Jumblat Says Paris Trip for Medical Reasons, Not Political
Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblat stressed on Thursday that his visit to the French capital, Paris, is to carry out the necessary medical checkups.
He pointed out in comments to LBCI that he arrived in Paris on Sunday aboard Jumblat's National Struggle Front MP Nehme Tohmeh's private plane.
Jumblat revealed that he is suffering from back pain and was accompanied by the family's doctor Ghattas Khoury, who informed him that ex-Prime Minister Saad Hariri is also in France for medical treatment.
The Druze leader added that he contacted Hariri to check on his health, noting that his visit to France will not include any political meetings.
Hariri's press office said on Tuesday that the Mustaqbal leader underwent a successful surgery to remove pins placed in his leg after a skiing accident in January 2012.
