Language, computer and other necessary business skills can decide on a person’s employability in today’s job market. Seeing the struggle and wanting to help the youth, Marwan Ziadat founded DarebniTV, a Jordanian based online vocational training portal that aims to empower the Arab youth employability with video-based Arabic content.
The Abdul Latif Jameel (ALJ) Group has signed an interactive vocational training production agreement with DarebniTV, this year’s second place winners of the MIT Enterprise Forum (MITEF) Arab Startup Competition in partnership with Abdul Latif Jameel Community Initiatives. The agreement signed last week aims to help ALJ incorporate their previous level of training excellence, industry regulations, best practices and fiscal responsibility.
DarebniTV’s initial contact with ALJ began during the MITEF Arab Startup Competition in April. Ziadat, Founder and CEO of DarebniTV says that he benefitted mostly from the networking where he also met other startups and gained valuable feedback.
“The competition will bring you business,” he says reflecting on his contact with ALJ, “I initiate the deal during the early stages of the competition but winning the competition gave us a big push towards sealing the deal.”
DarebniTV has created a balance blend of scenario-driven engaging Arabic and English video content, collaborative opportunities and online learning solutions to meet ALJ Center for Continuous Learning (ACCL) ’s learning goals.
“We welcome this opportunity to work with one of the largest business groups in the Middle East, and this is a significant and very important step forward to our success and mainly supportive to us and confirms our strength of what we do,” says Ziadat.
The objectives of this agreement is to reduce the training hours that are delivered by ACCL and to develop the technical skills and the performance of ALJ’s employees.
Today, DarebniTV has signed agreements with four universities, including Amman’s private university, has increased 25 percent of its revenue since April and continues to gain exposure through its ‘ambassadors’, composed of a group of university students who spread the word to their colleagues looking to improve their employability skills.
According to Ziadat, the DarebniTV team will focus on ensuring that their established agreements are working properly before continuing to create more agreements, while focusing on their business-to-consumer for the coming six months.
