Three Internal Security Forces members were injured on Thursday when gunmen opened fire on them in the northern district of Zgharta and in the city of Tripoli as police clamped down on construction violators.
The state-run National News Agency said that two policemen were injured after coming under fire while removing illegal buildings in the area of al-Shalfe in Zgharta.
Future TV said one of them was lightly injured but the second, who is from Murad family, had his finger amputated.
OTV said three ISF members were injured in the shooting.
In a related incident, Lieutenant Ziad Jammal was wounded after coming under a similar attack by gunmen in Tripoli.
Jammal was on a patrol that was removing construction violations in the area of al-Zaitoun in the district of Abi Samra when he was assaulted.
Lebanon witnessed over the years illegal construction in several areas. But powerful politicians and sometimes municipal chiefs shield violators.
