The Special Tribunal for Lebanon’s Victims’ Participation Unit released on Tuesday a public service announcement video inviting victims to participate in the judicial process at the tribunal, said the STL’s press office.
The announcement explains how victims of the February 14, 2005 attack that killed former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri can apply to participate in the judicial proceedings, it added.
This stage follows the confirmation of an indictment on June 28 by Pre-Trial Judge Daniel Fransen, the statement continued.
“Once applicants are allowed to participate by the Tribunal, they become one of the key actors in the court proceedings,” stated the press release.
“Through their lawyers and subject to the judges’ authorization, victims can submit evidence, call, and cross examine witnesses as well as file motions,” it concluded.
