A personal dispute in the Sabra area erupted into heavy gunfire that echoed in the vicinity of the Shatila Palestinian refugee camp and the Tariq al-Jedideh neighborhood on Sunday evening.
MTV said "a personal dispute between a man nicknamed al-Zir and another identified as A. J. erupted into gunfire in the vicinity of the Shatila camp in Beirut."
State-run National News Agency said the spat took place between a man from the al-Zir family and another known as Abu al-Zik over an old drugs-related dispute that dates back to two years ago.
According to information obtained by Naharnet, the clash erupted following a dispute between a supporter of Shaker al-Berjawi and a Palestinian from the Slim family.
Future TV said the Palestinian Armed Struggle arrested the two men and handed them over to the army.
NNA said calm was restored in Sabra following the intervention of the army.
Earlier on Sunday, al-Jadeed television spoke of "reports of a clash between Palestinian factions and unidentified gunmen.” However, Palestinian Ambassador to Lebanon Ashraf Dabbour later told al-Jadeed that “the Sabra camp and the Palestinian factions have nothing to do with the clash that erupted outside the camp."
