The cabinet on Wednesday approved the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Lebanon’s energy and water ministry and Iran’s oil ministry, Information Minister Walid al-Daouq said.
The MOU includes “a cooperation agreement in the field of energy worth $50 million,” Al-Manar television reported.
President Michel Suleiman called during the cabinet session for “implementing the law and arresting the perpetrators regarding the violation of public and private property and the attacks against individuals and employees,” Daouq told reporters after the session.
“The cabinet also discussed the issue of the incident in the (Jbeil District) town of Lassa and the interior minister said that the issue is being resolved, hoping it will be settled this evening or by tomorrow at the latest,” Daouq added.
The minister noted that the next cabinet session will be held on August 2 at the Baabda presidential palace.
