The Lebanese Army's Airborne Regiment set up on Thursday new bases in eastern Lebanon's al-Qaa and Ras Baalbek regions, the state-run National News Agency reported.
The erection of the bases came after the Syrian army continued to attack areas lying on the northeastern border with Lebanon.
The bases are aimed at stopping the infiltration of gunmen from Syria to Lebanon, NNA said.
These areas have been witnessing heavy battles between Syrian government troops and rebels in the past three days.
Syrian jets carried out an airstrike on Wednesday on the outskirts of the eastern border town of Arsal.
Ten people were wounded in the airstrike, eyewitnesses told the state-run National News Agency.
Arsal is on the other side of Syria's rugged Qalamoun region where the government has been on the offensive for weeks, capturing a number of towns and villages in the area.
Later Wednesday evening, the area was hit again, this time with rockets, NNA said. No injuries were reported.
