Speaker Nabih Berri stated on Wednesday that contacts are ongoing to form a new government.
He said: “We are positively dealing with this issue and we are very patient in facing the obstacles in the government formation process.”
He made his remarks during his weekly meeting with lawmaker at his Ain el-Tineh residence.
Moreover, the speaker noted that a “de facto cabinet will isolate all political powers.”
“It will negatively impact the situation in the country,” Berri stressed.
Since his appointment in April, Premier-designate Tammam Salam has faced difficulties in forming a new cabinet due to the conditions and counter-conditions placed by the rival March 8 and 14 camps.
The March 14 camp has been demanding the formation of a nonpartisan government, while the Lebanese Forces has urged that Hizbullah not be represented in the new cabinet.
The March 8 camp has meanwhile been demanding the formation of a national all-embracing government.
