Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri announced he will be out for eight weeks with a left knee injury.
Nasri wrote on his Twitter page Monday that he partially ruptured ligaments in his left knee when he was fouled by Newcastle defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa in the second half of Sunday's 2-0 Premier League win.
Nasri said: "Thank you everyone for your kind words and overwhelming support, i suppose its kind of good news that i will be out around 8 weeks."
There were fears that Nasri, who plays for France's national team, could miss the World Cup in Brazil.
He is scheduled to miss both legs of City's last-16 match with Barcelona in the Champions League.
