A Syrian man has strangled his 8-month-old boy in the northern district of Akkar for allegedly being annoyed from his cries, the state-run National News Agency reported Tuesday.
NNA said that Hassan al-Ayesh, who lives near the town of Menyara, later buried the infant named Ayesh near his house after midnight Monday.
The Internal Security Forces Intelligence Branch arrested the suspect at a shop in the town of Kousha, NNA said, adding that he admitted during questioning to have committed the crime.
He will be referred to the judiciary for trial.
The medical examiner confirmed that the baby had died of strangulation after the prosecutor's office ordered the removal of the body from the grave, NNA said.
The agency quoted his relatives as saying that the father had on several times assaulted the boy before killing him.
