The death toll in the double suicide bombing that rocked Beirut's southern suburbs earlier this week rose to 11 as an Ethiopian woman succumbed to her injuries on Friday.
The Ethiopian domestic worker was transported to Rafik Hariri state hospital on Wednesday after two powerful blasts targeted an Iranian cultural center in the neighborhood of Bir Hassan.
But the state-run National News Agency announced that she died on Friday.
On Wednesday, the health ministry had put the toll at six, with 129 people injured in the attack, which was claimed by the Abdullah Azzam Brigades, a jihadist group with links to al-Qaida.
The cultural center is located in the same neighborhood as the Iranian embassy, which was hit by a double suicide bombing in November, also claimed by the Brigades.
Meanwhile, investigation is still ongoing to identify the second suicide bomber after DNA tests confirmed on Thursday that Nidal al-Mghayyar was one of the attackers.
“State Commissioner to the Military Court Judge Saqr Saqr ordered handing over the bodies of 6 victims to their families after forensic doctors conducted the necessary DNA tests and confirmed their identities,” the NNA said.
"As for the second suicide bomber behind the attack, investigation is still ongoing to reveal his identity.”
