The Internal Security Forces on Wednesday raided a storehouse in Ashrafieh that contained large quantities of expired foodstuffs.
“The Beirut Third Regional Brigade and the Beirut Investigation Department obtained information about the presence of spoiled foodstuffs at a depot in the Ashrafieh neighborhood of Sioufi,” the ISF said in a statement.
“Consequently, a force from the brigade and the department raided the aforementioned storehouse, in the presence of a patrol from the economy ministry's Consumer Protection Department,” the ISF added.
The force confiscated “large quantities of expired foodstuffs, meat and chicken,” it said.
A patrol from the health ministry later arrived on the scene to examine the seized material, according to the statement.
On September 30, 2011, quantities of spoiled meat and chicken were confiscated from the Yassine Storehouse, which is also located in Ashrafieh.
