Foreign Minister Jebran Bassil hailed on Thursday the Bkirki charter, noting that it garnered the approval of all political powers.
He said: “The charter should serve as the main basis for dialogue and openness between the Lebanese people.”
He made his remarks after holding talks with Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi at Bkirki.
Bassil added: “I visited the patriarch to receive his blessing after my appointment as foreign minister.”
Assuming this position is a national duty as is work at any ministry, which should rise above personal goals, he continued.
Launched by al-Rahi earlier in February, the Bkirki Charter calls for staging the presidential elections on time and adhering to Lebanese national principles in order to save the country from dangers threatening it.
