Arab Democratic Party politburo chief Rifaat Eid took refuge in the southern suburbs of Beirut before leaving the country to Syria, media reports said on Wednesday.
"Rifaat Eid was transferred in a convoy from (the northern neighborhood) of Jabal Mohsen to the Sfeir region in southern Beirut,” LBCI television said.
"He then left Dahieh to Syria,” LBCI added.
Meanwhile, his father, Arab Democratic Party chief Ali Eid, left to Syria in a boat that crossed the Grand River in the northern Akkar region, according to the same source.
Later in the evening, radio Voice of Lebanon (93.3) reported that the party's politburo member Ali Fidda was arrested in Jabal Mohsen neighborhood in Tripoli.
The party's Abdul Latif Saleh was also held, according to OTV.
"He was released shortly while Fidda was kept in custody," OTV pointed out.
Media reports last week said both Ali and Rifaat Eid have left Lebanon to Syria
"Rifaat Eid will then leave Syria to the United States,” MTV noted.
On Tuesday, the army raided the house of Ali Eid in Akkar, as troops were beginning to implement a security plan adopted by the cabinet in several areas in the North.
The state-run National News Agency said that four people were arrested at Eid's residence, while the latter “was not found.”
