Locarno Festival Honors Swiss Great Bruno Ganz

Bruno Ganz, considered as one of Switzerland's greatest actors, was to be honored by the Locarno festival Thursday before the screening of his latest film.

In French director Patricia Mazuy's "Of Women and Horses", Marina Hands is a young rider on a quest for a horse and Bruno Ganz is a legendary trainer.

Ganz, 70, started his acting career in theatre and is best known for his performances as an angel in Wim Wenders' iconic "Wings of Desire" (1987) and depicting Adolf Hitler's final days in "Downfall" (2004).

Patricia Mazuy already collected Locarno's top award, the Golden Leopard, for "Travolta and Me" in 1993.

The 64th edition of the Locarno festival, famous for its starlit screenings attended by thousands on the Piazza Grande in the heart of the lakeside town, winds up on Saturday.
