Gigi Hadid, Cody Simpson Break Up after One Year of Dating
Less than two weeks ago they looked very in love as they stood arm-in-arm on the red carpet for the Radio Disney Music Awards in LA.
But model Gigi Hadid and Australian pop singer Cody Simpson, who have beeb dating for one year have broken up, his rep told MailOnline.
"I can confirm they have split," the spokesperson said, but did not offer details.
While 17-year-old Simpson has been busy on Dancing With The Stars, 19-year-old Hadid has been picking up modeling jobs - she was in the recent Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue - and will even star in one of Miguel's upcoming videos.
On Friday evening - just one day after he called it quits with the young beauty - the singer looked downcast as he attended the 21st annual Race To Erase MS event in LA. He was noticeably without the beautiful blonde catwalker.
On Saturday evening Gigi seemed as if nothing was wrong as she modeled pink Capri slacks and a fetching white sleeveless top while on the carpet for Harry Josh's pre-Met Ball party in New York City.
"They’ve been on and off trying to make it work, but their schedules have made it quite difficult," a source told JustJared.
The insider added, "They agreed that things were finally over on Thursday." Another friend told the site, "The split was amicable and they’ll remain best friends."
The couple showed no signs of trouble when co-starring in his Surfboard video, which was teased just over a week ago.
"We actually didn’t end up putting it in the video, but we had a couple of kisses on camera and stuff, and they honesty had to tell us to stop after they cut," Cody told U.S. Weekly in late April.
The singer also shared his reasoning behind getting Hadid - the daughter of Palestine-born architect Mohamed Hadid and Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills star Yolanda Foster - involved in the clip, which went viral less than a month after its release.
"That's not usually something that I like to do, I try to keep my personal life and my public kind of life separate, but I thought why not mix it too?" he said.
"Any girl that I'm with at the time is obviously inspiring music that I'm making at that time.
"It was going to be a kind of sexy video so why not get something that’s like natural chemistry?"
The clip, which is steamy enough without the duo locking-lips, features many an intimate moment between the youngsters who frolic around on a beach and lounge around on a surfboard.
"Being able to get my girl in it was really nice and being able to make that kind of art with someone that you’re close with was a cool experience," Cody said.
The sweet sentiment was returned by Gigi when she was asked by a Twitter fan what she loved most about appearing in Cody’s video, replying: "getting to hang w my best friend all day."
The couple also took their own pictures behind the scenes of Surfboard, updating their social media fans in between takes, through selfies and candid video stills.
