Puyol Says Goodbye to Barca after 15 Seasons
Barcelona defender Carles Puyol says he gave "everything" for the Spanish champions as he prepares to leave the club after 15 seasons.
Puyol departs the Catalan club having won 21 trophies since 1998/99, with nagging knee injuries forcing him out.
Speaking at an organized send-off at the Camp Nou, he says "I gave everything. (But) we couldn't find a solution (to the injury) though we never stopped trying. I'll keep trying (to get better) but, now, without the pressure of playing."
Puyol, who made nearly 600 club appearances, added: "I can't believe the career I've had. I've lived the dream of millions of children."
The 36-year-old has made 100 appearances for Spain, helping them to win a World Cup and a European Championship.
